Kill and Mason were taking over failing programs, and rebuilt them. Fleck was gifted a program rebuilt by Kill and co., and has run it into the ground.

How do you measure a coach's success? Recruiting? Record against Bowling Green? # of trophies? In each of these instances, Fleck is a failure.

Fleck inherited a lot of the players from the 2019 season from Kill. With Fleck recruiting in the bottom half of the Big 10 each year he's been at Minnesota, there is no way he'll ever make the playoffs.

Ask yourself: If you were a highly-touted football prospect, would YOU want to play for a coach who is 1-7 against one of his team's biggest rivals? Would YOU want to play for coach who can't get his team ready to play trophy games? Would YOU want to play for a coach who loses to Bowling...

For a serious football team, absolutely. Can you imagine an Iowa or Wisconsin or Michigan coach going 1-7 against us and keeping their coach? Absolutely not. Our fan base that insists that Fleck's poor performance is just fine for us is the reason we can't be a serious team.

Just reading this thread one can see why we'll never be a good team. Fleck has made no progress with the great team he inherited from Kill and he recruits in the basement of the Big10, ensuring that we stay a bottom-dwelling team. Yet, people think he's "great" and "he's never going to be...

If it's unacceptable, he can return his pay for this game.

PJ is going to keep getting extensions because Gophers fans are fine with PJ's "At least both teams had fun" attitude.

Nice to see that PJ is earning his bonus. Again, Fleck recruits worse than Iowa -- we shouldn't be surprised by this result.

The talent that the team puts on the field matters. The head coach at the end of the day recruits the talent. Yes, it matters who the head coach is when building a program. When you lose to Bowling Green, kids don't want to play for your program. When you win, kids do.
