Been a season ticket holder since the program was initiated (and long before that). Unless you dump a boatload more money on the program you shouldn't expect more than a case of Royal Crown and a Royal Crown cooler!
Yes, yes, yes, any school can do stripes, but we have a unique opportunity to "kick it up!" We need a "Wear your seat color" day! It'd be great to see the "M" and "MINNESOTA" in the stands during a nationally televised Little Brown Jug Day.
Random thoughts...
Yeah, MI and OSU look good ... just so familiar
Red teams need a twist, but not the funky stripes IU has attempted
Love NU's script lettering when used
I actually like the MD flag helmets, but as with others, work that turtle!
Ill can just own the orange and blue - but did...
Ope3
Admittedly, Gopher fans are often demur, even staid, but I wouldn't confuse them with plastic seats. And beside, TV audiences don't know what our stadium looks like when empty, only we know what the stadium looks like empty.
Stripes? Really? A lot of schools do that. But, we already have a built in prompt with the "M" and "MINNESOTA" spelled out in the seat colors. Why not "Wear Your Seat Color?"Now that would look great on a national broadcast in LA.
I proposed this a few years back and got the same hurumph...
All of central MN waiting for this kid to breakout.
With some of the height the Gophers have had at TE, why don't I recall that nearly, indefensible corner route inside the 10? Given BSF's basketball hops, I would love to see a regular serving of 2 to 88 for a touchdown (or 2-points v. Ill).
Why for a night game? Might be sharper during the afternoon.
Suggest that next year we'll open with black unis and gold trim and the gold beadhead lids.
Hey kid, get off my lawn!
Like S.O.N.'s thoughts.
But also, commercial brands spend dearly creating and policing their brand image. Yet, MN lets each new coach (or vendor) redefine our look. Maroon and gold with white and black accents are sufficient. Dark cherry, mustard yellow and coal cheapen the brand.
If nothing more than to spread the brand around:
Yr 1

UTEP
Wyoming
Oregon in the Rose Bowl*
Yr 2
UCLA
Boise State
Vanderbilt
USC in the Rose Bowl*
Yr 3
Pitt
Kansas State
Washington
Stanford in the Rose Bowl*
*Not accounting for the playoff commitments, nor do I really care about the...
At the least, I expect a change from the rhythm killing, clumsy offensive set and check with the sideline. While certainly contributing to the vaunted Time Of Possession, I don’t get a sense that it helped switch out of trouble that often, though very hard to confirm. That scheme, used widely...
Covid, price & product. The first two have been discussed. The last incorporates: the time commitment (mentioned), the quality of the teams on the field, the experience at the game, the experience in your den (mentioned). The last of these is formidable and why I think the Gophers have the...
Fun info. This phenomenon is what contributes to the uniqueness of college football. Would be interesting to identify the lowest rated player, that rose the highest, under what coach?
Yeah, I missed that one - very effective eye candy.
I have to admit, after the IL game, I was seriously wavering on my commitment to this team I've followed for 50+ years. I'll join many of you and continue to hope for a Rose Bowl in my lifetime, but I was almost ready to give in to the...
