Agree. Would have been nice to play a ranked team in a bowl, for only the 5th time in Gopher history. If I have my math right, 22 of the Gophers 26 bowl opponents were unranked on the day of the game.

Agree 100%. Giel is best back in Gopher history. If Smith wasn’t a somewhat fluke Heisman winner (he didn’t win the BIG MVP and was the 3rd leading rusher on his own team), Giel would get his just due.
