Can you identify the other schools that have engaged in systematic in-person scouting like Michigan? Perhaps I’m wrong, but I think your take that what Michigan did happens all the time is way off base.
If the scandal/mess you're talking about is Moore's improper relationship (for which there was no pre-hire track record), then yes, subject to the MaxyJr1 caveats that those involved are fired and/or prosecuted for any crimes. If the scandal/mess includes the Stalions improper in-person...
Gophers move up to a 9 seed after loss to Maryland. Charlie Creme writes:
“Maryland and Minnesota played an instant classic; the Terrapins escaped with a one-point, double-overtime win, but the Golden Gophers looked better than their No. 10 seed from last week.”
Actual attendance I assume was below 40,000 on average, but have yet to see the scanned ticket count. In 2023, the scanned average was 38,321, and the sold/distributed average (including free tickets to students for game 1) was 48,452.
Interesting comparison. I had not remembered that Carlie was also quite inefficient her first 3 years, and that she made a huge leap in EFG% from junior year to senior year, going from 43.5% EFG% to 52.6% EFG%.
Not sure I understand the comparison, but effective field goal percentage (EFG%) is the better metric, because it takes into the higher value of the 3 pointer, and implicitly takes into account the volume of 3s vs 2s. Volume is important, especially with someone like Clark who took so many 3s...
Agree 100%. Despite their lower recruiting profiles, compared to Braun and Battle, and Braun’s and Battle’s seniority, this needs to be Tori’s and GG’s team. Tori and GG are the 2 best players. Braun and Battle are both playing great defense, and Battle has been playing a great floor game...
Kaylene Smikle out today. 3rd player Maryland has lost since season began, and Bri McDaniel has yet to return from ACL last season. Gophers know what it is to be hurt by injuries, but Maryland is really weakened coming in to today.
Minnesota and Alabama will be each others' fans all year long. Minnesota is by far the best non-conference team that Alabama will play, and the loss to Alabama leaves Minnesota hoping that Alabama can finish in the top half of the SEC (Bama was preseason 9th out of 16th).
No real surprise but no Gophers on offense made 1st-, 2nd- or 3rd-team All Big Ten. Jameson Geers HM by coaches and media, and Greg Johnson HM by media.
Didn't she once have a Gopher offer? WBB Blog lists Mack as a Gopher target for 2025.
