Gophers/Mizzou players to receive $447 Best Buy gift card and shopping trip; watch

Nice gifts for Citrus, much deserved for all the hard work on both teams.

Minneapolis company sponsoring the bowl in Buffalo Wild Wings. Minneapolis company providing the bowl swag in Best Buy. Meanwhile, where you at Missouri, St. Louis, Kansas City? I mean does Minnesota have to do everything?! Ha! ;)

oddly specific number.

Actually, makes perfect sense considering this NCAA bylaw. The NCAA allows each bowl to award up to $550 worth of gifts to 125 participants per school. Schools can, and usually do, buy additional gifts that they can distribute to participants beyond that 125 limit. In addition, participants can receive awards worth up to $400 from the school and up to $400 from the conference for postseason play, covering both conference title games and bowl games.

So the $447 Best Buy gift card is the huge bulk of the $550 bowl limit. Add in the watch and performance shirt to cover the balance remaining of the $550 allowed.

Maybe we can get the BWW RV to take us down to the game:

Send Buffalo Wild Wings a tweet and ask them. Tell them you want to get a bunch of Gopher fans together and the hometown company should support the hometown team and pony up use of the RV for some free advertising/good local PR. Then reach out to the local Mpls/St. Paul TV news stations and tell them to cover the story. Hey, it's worth a try if you want to give it a shot. What the hell.

P.S. For added effect/pressure on BWW, makes sure to include the twitter handles for WCCO TV, KSTP, KMSP, KARE on your original tweet to Buffalo Wild Wings asking them about it. :D
