Mississippi State jumps Michigan State!

That made no sense at all. How is Mississippi St. all of a sudden better than Michigan St? If anything, I thought this weekend would have helped Michigan St. since both of their losses were now against playoff teams.

We got it back! Citrus is in the big 10!

Our Outback chances are still alive!

Unless I am thinking through it wrong, this has to good news for us correct? Citrus Bowl back in play for B1G slotting. Outback/beautiful Tampa here we come?

Yep. Michigan State to Cotton. So who goes Citrus vs. Outback. I say we get Outback. Wisconsin to Citrus. Nebraska to Holiday.

Can someone please explain what the implications of miss st jumping up affects our chances at getting a favorable fl bowl?

Wouldn't it be more beneficial for us if mich st was higher? Please excuse my ignorance on the topic.

No, because the higher of the two between Miss St and Michigan State goes to the orange bowl. Whichever conference gets the orange bowl can't go to the citrus. Since Miss St, got the orange bowl, the big ten gets the citrus and michigan state is still in a committee bowl so everyone moves up.

Wisconsin played in the Citrus Bowl last year, and played in Orlando four times in five years from 2005-09. Nebraska played in the Citrus in both 2011 and 2012.

If the Citrus really is back in the Big Ten lineup, I think we're the favorites.

Thanks afurry!!

So in my opinion the Holiday bowl is now a slap in the face.

And I fully expect us to get it.

Wisconsin: Outback
Nebraska: Citrus
Minnesota: Holiday

Life sucks. Hope I'm wrong.

No. Because there was a bylaw in the Citrus Bowl contract between the bowl and the B1G and SEC that basically removed a B1G/SEC slotting from the Citrus if a B1G or SEC team also happened to end up in the Orange Bowl. Probably had something to do with trying to avoid over saturation of the Florida Bowls by the two conferences.

Many thought Michigan State would end up in the Orange and by vitrue essentially close out an additional (i.e. Citrus) bowl destination slot for the conference it would otherwise have. With Miss State jumping Mich State in the final CFP rank and taking the Orange Bowl that sends Mich State to the Cotton Bowl and opens the Citrus Bowl back up.

As afurry91 said, it rightfully, and imo justly, moves everyone in the B1G back up a slot in bowl options, which is really where we should be anyways.

You are trying to do some reverse karma strategy stuff aren't you? I got you figured out. Especially after how the Georgia vs. Georgia Tech game played out for you. I'm onto you afurry91. Ha! ;)

The committee doing the Big Ten and SEC a favor in this reshuffling. The ACC gets hurt, moving everyone down a notch in the pecking order and giving them one extra eligible team than bowl tie-ins.

I believe I declared that game over in UGA's favor with 1 minute to play. Not my best prediction. Lol. Hopefully this one is wrong as well.

Who gets the SEC's slot in the citrus now?

We've got a great shot!

B1G Coach of Year, ranked 25, beat them last 2 years, and no January 1 Bowl Game since 1962 vs
Coaching change, unranked, traveled to Florida and played on January 1 last year.

Hope the Citrus committee takes that ino account. Plus, they've seen us play.

Jerry Palm's (CBS) ever-updating page currently has us slotted in Citrus vs Mizzou.
Nebraska to Holiday vs. USC, and UGA vs wisky in Outback.
