John Hopkins University is an associate member of the B-10, participating in Lacross only.

Wonder if they get a pro-rated share of the B-10 earnings.

I did know that. I'm curious to see which conference Arizona State will join for Hockey.

Yeah, the WCHA have been in talks with them from the start, the B1G only jumped in late. I cant believe that Arizona is going to get a D1 hockey program before so many other midwest and eastern schools. Just looking at B1G schools that dont have a D1 hockey program Iowa, Nebraska, Rutgers, Maryland, Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana, and Purdue. How can none of them get support for a program?

Overall I love the idea of Arizona getting a program going, maybe the rest of the Pac12 will jump on board.

Pac12 is allegedly pushing for it to happen, and other programs (Oregon, some of the SoCal schools) are considering it.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't the WCHA

NCHC.

The WCHA would be a fine fit, except that is not as rich as the NCHC (collectively), and travel expenses are already thinned out by so many trips to and from Alaska (with two teams up there) and Alabama-Huntsville. Look for the richer conference to outbid the other in order to make a splash and add a big name school (if not big in hockey yet, but with massive upside) to their lineup.

It would really surprise me if the B1G was interested. Johns Hopkins was a natural(?) for associate membership because of its lacrosse rivalry with Maryland, and the B1G needing another school to have enough to cobble a legitimate conference together. Neither the B1G, nor any of its hockey members, has anything to lose by not inviting ASU to the B1G hockey... party(?).

I hope this motivates other Pac-12 schools to add D1 hockey (looking at you, Colorado, USC, Washington). The apparent lack of interest from our B1G brethren bothers me - since Penn State announced its upgrade we've seen much more interest from Minnesota State - Moorhead in upgrading than from any B1G institution. Shame on you, non-hockey members of the B1G!!

Geographically, the NCHC would make more sense. Denver & CC would be a lot closer than all of the WCHA schools.

(Hey moderator, this has turned into a hockey conversation. You might want to move the thread.)
