So Minnesota and Wisconsin is the biggest game since?

Probably not even close. The paper had a large feature on it before the Iowa game. Remember listening to Ray calling the game.

November 1960 Iowa #1 Minnesota #3

I was at the game. Great experience.

Next week's game is bigger than Michigan '03.

1962, Minnesota vs Wisconsin. Winner goes to the Rose Bowl. I won't relive the horrid details of how
we were jobbed in that one. Sid called it "The worst screwing a Minnesota team ever had". I'm STILL
waiting for Bobby Bell to rough Van der Kelen.

Hard to say. That was a "we arrived" game as well. Years of improving and building a identity on the field, a national televised game on a Friday night (as opposed to next week's game on BTN that no one will watch). Clearly next weeks game is bigger if we win. About the same if we lose. Actually, if we lose, no one will see but us anyway...

This is bigger than the Michigan game. Obviously if we had won that game, we had a good shot at the Rose Bowl, but there was no guarantee. If we beat Wisconsin, we are GUARANTEED to play in Big Ten Championship. That puts us in an unprecedented spot for this program.

Biggest game since 1967.

Go Gophers!!

Michigan '03 was huge. I agree with all your reasons above. I think next week is bigger because it is for the division title. Against WI none the less.

Michigan in 2003 was just the third Big Ten game of the season so I don't think it compares to next week.

Biggest game since 03 Michigan. But this is bigger.

Beat Michigan in '03 and we probably go to the Rose Bowl.

Just my opinion.

Since the 60's.

Way bigger than Michigan in '03 IMHO.

I am 51 years old and this will be their biggest game in my lifetime. It's been a long time since the Gophers have had a game this big. This team is not afraid to knock you down and then kick you in the teeth.

Biggest game that we have played in a really long time. As stated Michigan in '03 was in the middle of the season. We could have gone either way after that game. This one is for the division championship. If we win this, we play in the conference championship game. '03 didn't have anything like that. While the game derailed our season, it wouldn't have guaranteed us anything if we had won.

I wish it wasn't next week. In Laws that roll their eyes at me when I watch sports will be over having thanksgiving dinner. Being a guy in enemy territory could have been massive amounts of fun for a get together. Instead I've got my uninterested inlaws in my house trying to make me feel guilty for watching sports.

Just get drunk and say regrettable things. In laws like that are no fun.

Biggest game since Michigan 2003. Mason had been building the program and had won over just about everyone. The excitement for the program was at its highest since Holtz was coach. There is still little doubt for most Gopher fans that if we won that game we would have gone to the Rose Bowl. Now, if we win next week, the B1G Championship game will be bigger.

Biggest since the Wisconsin game, November 24, 1962.

Side note, that's the day I learned to hate all things Wisconsin.

Next week will be the biggest Gopher game I have ever witnessed in my life. More meaning is in that game then most understand...

How big is this game? Let me count the ways:

If Gophers Win - they
1. Win the Axe
2. Snap long losing streak to WI
3. Win the division and earn a chance to play for the B1G championship
4. Deny Bucky a shot at the championship

and - topping them all - if the Gophers win, they would be doing it on Bucky's field.

In my wildest fantasy, the image of the Gophers running across the field, grabbing the axe, and chopping down the goalposts at Camp Randall would be something I would cherish for the rest of my life.

I was 5 years old in 1960 - I don't remember the last Rose Bowl. If the Gophs Win, it would be the biggest victory for the program in my lifetime - that I can remember.
