Maybe its my biased opinion, but I think Mortell should be there too.

Was just thinking the same thing. He's been a huge weapon for us and has played a pivotal role in some of our "field position" battle games. Obviously an Illini fan could say the same thing about their punter, who I know nothing about outside of his stats.

Go Gophers!!

Honestly, it could be either. They have pretty identical stats with the exception of touchbacks (DuVernois 45.1 average, 2 touchbacks, Mortell 45.1 average, 7 touchbacks) - although that could be a result of field position.

ESPN: Big Ten midseason overview

Best coach: Jerry Kill, Minnesota. With apologies to Flood, no coach has maximized his talent more than the head Gopher. Minnesota is 5-1 and tied atop the Big Ten West Division, with its only loss coming at TCU. Kill's team finds ways to win without an overpowering offensive attack.

Go Gophers!!

I like that we have 3 all big guys and they list us as having 2…thanks ESPN

However, best coach….Jerry Kill….I am 100% in agreement. Not a coach in the country for whom I would trade him. He makes it a pleasure to support this program.

I think it has more to do with the lack of success Illinois has had as opposed to him being the best punter. Kind of a snarky backhanded compliment to say your best player is the punter.

Code:
Botticelli hopefully was a near miss as I can't imagine a DT playing better than him so far. You can't just ignore TE because there are too many RBs. Name an extra RB if you have to but there has to be a TE. My guess is we put six or seven guys on first or second team B1G teams at the end of the year: Mortell, Boticelli, Cobb, Williams, Murray and Epping should be locks with Olson, BBC and Cockran in the mix.

Mortell is the best punter in the BIG and will be on that first team by the end of the season imo.

Eric Murray is listed number 4 on Mel Kiper's Top 10 prospects by position at CB. Looks like he's finally starting to get national recognition. Here's the Link for those with ESPN Insider.
