Ra'Shede Hageman NFL Draft Updates, Projections, Analysis & More

On the road listening to ESPN draft coverage via XM. Could not believe the comments. "This is the kind of pick that can cost a GM his job." Described Shede as a "flash" player. "Make a few mind boggling plays then disappear for a half."

I've already got a badass Falcons hat. I'm set.

Vareen still on the board halfway through the fourth. I would be pretty happy if he fell to the Vikings at top of the fifth.

Damn! Vareen off the board in round 4, pick 131 to the Bears.

Really wanted the Vikings to get a shot at him.

Per the U of MN:

Please attribute the following quote to Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill on Ra'Shede Hageman being drafted No. 37 overall by the Atlanta Falcons.

"I could not be more proud of Ra’Shede, as he has worked tremendously hard to get to this point. It is a special moment that he will never forget, and I am glad that his parents, his high school coach Giovan Jenkins and Rebecca and I were here to see it. This is not only a great moment for him, but also for our program, the University and the state of Minnesota. The Atlanta Falcons are not only getting a relentless football player, but also a college graduate. Atlanta is a great fit for Ra’Shede and his best years are still to come. I know he will continue to work hard every day to represent the Falcons, but also the Gophers, as he pursues his NFL dream."

Since, this kid earned his degree before the NFL draft he likely will be going places after football!!! Congrats!!

Not Gopher related, but interesting nonetheless. No Texas players were drafted this year.

Concordia players drafted: 1 University of Texas Longhorns drafted: 0

Near end of 3rd round right now and Brock Vereen is listed as the best safety available on ESPN.

Pretty out of line. Just look at what Rasheed had to say in his video. "Minnesota has shown me so much support, I definitely know that they have my back."

Question - Falcons play Vikes at TCF this season. If 'Sheed sacks the Vikes QB (whoever it may be), does the crowd: A. Cheer B. Boo C. go buy another beer.

Shede is a A BEAST!

And you intend to prove this statement how?

Personal experience. Most Vikings fans (NFL fans for that matter) don't know anyone aside from the top 15 players in the draft. As well as the simple fact that most Viking fans are not Gopher fans.

Want an example? Most Viking fans hadn't heard of Christian Ponder before we picked him.

You use an example of a kid that played his college ball in the state of Florida to compare to a kid that played in the very same stadium the Vikings will be playing in next year...?

And it'll be many of their first trips to the bank.

So if the Vikings fans hadn't heard of their first round draft pick to their home town team in the very year that everybody knew they would be drafting QB, how do you expect Vikings fans to have heard of a second round pick to Atlanta?

This is a dumb argument.
There are stereotypes for both fan bases. But they are stereotypes.
I happen to (God-forbid) cheer for both teams.

Because he played here and much has been talked about in the local media regarding him?

And most people around here haven't heard of many prospects, regardless of position, if those prospects are from Florida or countless other states. The Vikings intention to draft a QB makes no difference at all, especially in this case when many didn't even mention Ponder as a possibility in the first round.

The fact that you can't see a difference is telling. Again, you just seem to make a defenseless statement and then continue to pound at it regardless of lack of evidence.

The majority of vikings fans probably know Ra'Shede as "that DT from the gophers" Decker did get an applause from the hometown crowd as he made a catch in his rookie season at the dome in a preseason game. Probably would be the same for Shede in a preseason game although Decker probably had slightly more name recognition then Ra'Shede.

And Unregistered, you're really arguing over a pointless topic. Why do you care if afurry can prove his statement right or wrong? That is just his opinion on how much vikings fans know about Ra'Shede and frankly i don't disagree with him.

Ra'Shede will be wearing #77. Thats disrespectful to such a beast like that.

I'm not sure how what I said was out of line. I was just meant that Brock could be drafted at any time.

Sorry Skook, I must have hit the wrong quote. My statement was regarding the guy who questioned why jerry kill was even at the draft and his impression was that once someone graduated, the program wanted nothing to do with them.
