Here are some numbers I've been tracking since the 1999-2000 season. I've split it up to show a comparison of the two Gopher coaches.

Since the 1999-2000 season:

Overall Record vs. NCAA Qualifiers: 30-89 (.2521)
Dan Monson vs. NCAA Qualifiers: 22-72 (.2340)
Tubby Smith vs. NCAA Qualifiers: 8-17 (.3200)

Overall Record vs. NCAA Qualifiers/Home: 27-28 (.4909)
Dan Monson vs. NCAA Qualifiers/Home: 22-22 (.5000)
Tubby Smith vs. NCAA Qualifiers/Home: 5-6 (.4545)

Overall Record vs. NCAA Qualifiers/Road: 1-48 (.0020)
Dan Monson vs. NCAA Qualifiers/Road: 0-39 (.0000)
Tubby Smith vs. NCAA Qualifiers/Road: 1-9 (.1000)

Overall Record vs. NCAA Qualifiers/Neutral: 2-13 (.1333)
Dan Monson vs. NCAA Qualifiers/Neutral: 0-11 (.0000)
Tubby Smith vs. NCAA Qualifiers/Neutral: 2-2 (.5000)

Notes
(1) From Monson's first year to his second, the Gophers' RPI improved from #114 to #73 (+41). From Tubby's first year to his second, the Gophers' RPI improved from #101 to #42 (+59).

(2) Monson's record vs. NCAA qualifiers in his first two seasons was 6-23 (.2068). Tubby's record vs. NCAA qualifiers in his first two seasons is 8-17 (.3200).

(3) Monson's best season vs. NCAA qualifiers was 2005-06, when the Gophers were a solid 5-7 (.4166). Tubby's best season (thus far) vs. NCAA qualifiers just finished, 7-9 (.4375).

(4) The Gophers' overall strength of schedule was #31 and #50 in Monson's first two seasons. In Tubby's first two seasons, the Gophers' overall strength of schedule was #113 and #35.

(5) Jerry Palm of CollegeRPI.com has been ranking nonconference schedules only since 2002-03, so nonconference SOS rankings are not available for Monson's first two seasons. The Gophers' nonconference SOS rankings under Tubby in his first two seasons have been #284 and #187.
 


Yes, the "not able to beat a NCAA qualifier away from Williams Arena thing" has always stuck in my craw. That should almost happen by accident every year or two, even if the Gophers aren't a NCAA quality team. We appear to be making strides in that area with 3 W's in the last two seasons. Not an earth-shattering number, but it's significant progress.
 

0-39 away & 0-11 on neutral courts = 0-50 away from The Barn.
