I felt most embarrassed as a Gopher fan today when...

....they paraded about 80 members of the Gopher track team into the end zone to be recognized. The Husker fans surrounding our little group were laughing hysterically when Maturi walked down the line and shook everyone's hand....Another "not so proud" moment was watching our players talk trash when we're down by 34. Never saw a Husker do that all day.

Why do so many Gopher football fans hate our non-revenue teams? I'd really love to hear how it's the indoor track team's fault that the football team sucks.

And why do you care at all what Huskers' fans opinions are on anything?

Yeah, screw all other athletes. We shouldn't even allow them into school. If you're embarrassed by that, they I think you have issues.

I rarely agree with you, but in this instance...+1. I love all our sports...we just got too many to support right now. It isn't the teams fault...it's Maturi's!

I would have thought the most embarrassing point for every Gopher fan was when Nebraska pulled starters for the entire 4th quarter.

You must not have seen #84 in red & white doing his antics and trash talking during the first half. The Husker fans should keep in mind that they have yet to win a Big Ten title in anything. Don't be so easily embarassed, I was quite honestly proud of the track team. The Husker fans around me actually applauded during the recognition (they also commented on #84s actions).

I'm not knocking the track team. I'm a runner myself and maybe the only person on this forum who attends their meets. It was just awkward to bring out a group that won a championship last school year (7 months ago). The athletes themselves looked sheepish and somewhat embarrassed, and they appeared really uncomfortable when the AD started shaking hands with everyone. I'm guessing the Husker fans were laughing because it's probably something they don't do at home football games.

I'm embarrassed by having an AD who hired a guy with a nice sales pitch as our last FB coach, and who just gave a 3-year extension w/a $400K buyout to a hockey coach who hasn't been to national tourney in the last 3 years.

Did you see the game? They can talk all the trash they want.

Excuse me. I was commenting on the OP stating that Huskers did not do talk trash at all. Since you asked, I did see the game, was there until the last play. Didn't realize that you could decide who has the right to talk trash.

Not sure if Nebraska talked ZERO trash today, but I know they took at least one cheap shot on that fumble return. I'd rather have an opponent talk trash than try to injure my team with cheap shots.

MN was a bit chippy as well. I am sure we talked some trash. But the DB who was talking down 34 was pretty out of place.

on the PF after the fumble return, i think that was 97 for Nebraska. it also looked like pelini expressed his intense dislike with the cheap shot, very vocal with 97

if maturi brought the track team out to congratulate them, seems like a good AD thing to do....to me

Wisconsin paraded around their less than impressive Volleyball team at a game earlier in the year (at Camp Randall). I like recognizing non-revenue sports. I was embarassed by our revenue sport today.

I was most embarrassed when I punched an 8 year old little girl right in the face for wearing husker gear .

But the little be-0tch was just asking for it.

You should have laughed at the Nebraska faithful

Their academic institution doesn't deserve the privilege of being in the conference.

Was that after peweenie chose to throw three bombs up by 34 or go for a TD instead of a FG when up big. I know-just stop them, but I thought it was kind of cheap as did the non corn_uckers around us.

This is a reach of a thread man, every school uses football and basketball games to recognize the accomplishments of their non-revenue sports. It's a chance to put kids who by and large go under the radar in front of a lot more people. The Husker fans around us applauded them.

Correct, even Penn State does this. Maybe CP Gopher is just bitching because he's pissed as a fan, but of all things to bitch about, this is not it.

The football team could use a couple of the track athletes. Can run faster and probably catch a ball just as well.

Don't see why this is a problem, it's homecoming and they're recognizing an outstanding achievement.

AGAIN....My original post was about the awkwardness of the AD's handshake session. But what the hell, I won't stop people from jumpng to the conclusion that I'm an angry fan who hates non-revenue sports.....By the way, how many track meets have any of you been to in the last five years? I haven't missed a home one.

+1 84 was talking trash to Henderson all day. After the first 100 times Henderson started talking back.

I see nothing awkward about it. If Nebraska doesn't do this and their fans think it is strange, that's not our problem. It is something that we do.
