I am starting to worry that is code for "we are glad he is there." I am honestly not sure that if Brewster and his staff were coaching, things would not be this bad. Kill is probably a better head coach, but Brewster had a better, more experienced staff.

wow. Do you have any clue how hard it is to learn a completely difference, and probably way more complex, offense/defense??? If Brewster was here it would be a bigger bust of a season. My guess is that some of the seniors haven't completely bought into Kill's schemes. It takes a while to rebuild a whole program. Yes, we still stink, but are we really about to throw our new coach under the bus already??? No wonder no one wants to coach here.

I completely disagree and I say that without any boasting that Jerry Kill will do anything significant here. I think the respect he gets is genuine. Things may not have been this bad if Brewster was still here because he would have not had any system changes to put in (of course, I'm sure we would have hired yet another O coordinator). But it still would have been bad and with no excuse for it. This staff is going to be fine ... what level will that take us to is a fair question ... but there is no way this regime doesn't surpass the Brew administration (tough to believe, I know).

Yes, "respected" by your peers often means that they like having you in the conference. Sports are competitive and you usually don't have great feelings towards those who defeat you regularly. Not saying that is the case with Jerry Kill as it certainly could be genuine.

I am holding out hope that the Gophers will win a B1G game this year.

I hope Jerry is the guy to turn it around (actually think the team looked better today than in weeks past) but I'm still unsure about his staff. If I'm not mistaken he switched up the positions his staff coaches this year for some reason. I think he put his TE coach to RB coach and switched the DL coach as well? I'm just curious as to why he did that, the system was obviously working for him before and we are seeing with the Eagles what happens when you do stuff like that (OL coach to D coordinator)

He had to replace the traitor.

He lost one coach, I believe, and also every few years he does that with his position coaches.

The respect for Kill gets from his peers (and rightfully so) is likely from overcoming cancer and battling his current helath issues. I doubt many coaches have feared playing against him.

Also, as mentioned on the tv broadcast, the way that he worked his way up from the lowest levels of college football. A lot of coaches start as position coaches at schools and work there way up to jobs that way. Kill started at D3(or D2 i don't remember) and he worked his way up the hard way. The color guy was saying this is what Monte Kiffen told them about how much he respects Kill.

Thanks for playing...but next time, try paying attention.

It must be tough knowing Coach Kill's peers know a whole lot more about football and what Coach Kill is going through then you do...

I thought the announcers praise of the bank, the U, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Coach kill was outstanding and should have perked up the ears of any potential recruits that may have been watching. It was pretty refreshing since few end up lavishing such praise.
