"DON'T PRINT THAT

Gophers athletics director Joel Maturi has put his Minneapolis house up for sale, but that doesn't mean he's planning to retire, he said Saturday.

"It doesn't mean anything," Maturi said. "We (he and wife Lois) have a 3,600-square-foot house for the two of us, and there are lots of stairs. So there's really no meaning in this."

Asked if he plans to retire when his contract expires in June, Maturi said, "That has yet to be decided."

Go Gophers!!

I think this says it all...jm is as good as gone when his contract is up. Good luck selling your house in this market.

Glen Mason 'Re-Tweeted' this..... HAHA, love it

I Will VOLUNTEER To Help Him Box Up His Belongings

Good riddance. Why he hasn't RESIGNED already is beyond belief.

Just speculation, but if he is on the way out, you would think it will be done in the next few months so his replacement will be able to hire their own hockey coach.

Why would he want to stay?

if he stays for one or two more years, i would bet he probably gets another cool million or so in U of M retirement money via what is probably a ridiculously unbelievable and unearned "golden parachute" retirement package (unbelievable considering the grade "D" job maturi has done during his tenure) we all know his buddy former president bruininks likely worked out for him before he officially retired this past spring.

basically, he is just giving the U of M and the minnesota public the middle finger, imo. to be honest, i would like to see someone from the U of M (here is looking at you new president eric kaler) or minnesota public break that middle finger of his off and shove it up his clueless, spinless arse. someone needs to send him packing, espeically if he is just trying to hunkering down and wait it out to get a bigger retirement payout. he is at the official retirement age range after all.

Maturi will extend his own contract and then fire himself after another epic failure of one of the three revenue sports forcing the U of M to pay yet another buyout. His hand picked successor, Pam Borton, will eliminate all mens sports to show a commitment by the U of M to end violence against women.

now that is some gooooooood satire!

Now this a bandwagon we can all jump on! I'll gladly help pack his stuff so long as we send him at least a days travel from the UofM campus...Siberia would be a good place for him.

I was happy you chose to use arse instead of ass. Kept the post a lot classier that way.

Don't get excited everyone. Joel just plans to sell his house in 2015 and we all know that anything involving Joel and a contract takes years to complete.

Maybe one of our illustrious GH posters can camp out on the doorstep and get us the scoop on who the next AD is.

BTW what's the price.

Maturi's Home: Downsizing or.....?

From Sid:

Joel Maturi has put his house up for sale, leading to rumors that the Gophers athletic director will retire when his contract expires at the end of June. Regardless of the house situation, close friends of both Maturi and his wife are convinced that Maturi, 66 and fed up with all of the problems on campus, will call it quits next year.

There's little reason for Maturi to stay on at this point IMO. All of the major decisions that need to be made in the near future have already been made, other than maybe getting the Mens' BB practice facility done. Kill has been hired, Lucia extended, etc.

If he extends his contract all it will do is keep a major bullseye on his back for all the local Gopher fans and media. Regardless of how he comports himself, at this point in his life & career there's little upside in taking all the abuse that will roll in over the next few seasons of football as Kill installs his program.

Who's going to buy it? Think of all the bad juju! It would be like buying one of those murder/haunted houses only worse.
