Gophers received the #6 overall seed for the NCAA volleyball tournament.

First round opponent is North Dakota State. Northern Iowa plays Iowa State in the other game.

Texas is the top seed in the regional, #3 overall.

Texas (3), Minnesota (6), Oregon (11), UCLA (14) seeded teams in the regional.

Top 4 overall seeds:
1. Penn State
2. Stanford
3. Texas
4. Nebraska

Honestly, if Penn State doesn't win the title, it will be one of the biggest upsets in the history of collegiate volleyball.

Hmm....That first round matchup sounds pretty familiar!!!;)

Here's to hoping the ladies can make it far enough that Dieter has a chance to get back in there at some point.

Good luck to coach Hebert and the rest of the team!!

The Minnesota volleyball team (26-6) will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament on Dec. 5-6 at the Sports Pavilion. It marks the first time since 2003 that the Golden Gophers were selected to host the NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds.

Minnesota will face North Dakota State on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m., and Northern Iowa will face Iowa State in the other first round matchup at 5 p.m. The winners of the two matches will face each other in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.

The Golden Gophers were awarded the overall No. 6 seed, and the second seed in theAustin Region. Texas, who is the No. 3 overall seed, will host the NCAA Regional round. Oregon is the No. 11 overall seed (No. 3 in the region) and UCLA is No. 14 (No. 4 in the region).

Minnesota’s No. 6 overall seed in the tournament is its second-highest in school-history, and the best since the Golden Gophers were seed No. 4 in 2004.

Keep an eye on the bathroom stalls with UNI and IA State coming to town . . .
