I really thought they would open a lot near the stadium this year for first come first served parking/tailgating. There is not a better way to kill the game day experience than having several parking lots half empty while telling people they have to go park/tailgate in St. Paul. What a f'ing joke.

You're not from around these parts, are ya?

Might have to get over it. What are you going to tell the folks that donate $$$ to park close? It's $2000 for the adjacent lots and $1000 for the lots a block away, plus the $175.

That's $300 and $170 a game. At $30 a pop retail, thats 10 cars per $2000 donor and 6 per $1000 donor. I think they've done the math. The $1000 lots were full by game time even last year.

Thank you for the math.

I would think creating more of a "game day experience" would help improve interest among common fans. Of the six Big Ten stadiums I've been to, the UofMN has by far the worst tailgating options. It's a good way to alienate the fans (and students) that can't afford the season parking pass.

"Game day experience" is not a goal the U strives for at the expense of money.

We're giving our spot on the West Bank the old "heave-ho" in favor of the best kept parking secret that some on here have whispered about.
