Gophers coach Jerry Kill talks, Sansevere listens: 'I guess I'm living a dream'

Another good, interesting read, and another "Thanks" to Bleed for the link.

I guess that is how you write about college football when you don't know anything about college football.

Time will tell if he is a good fit for the MN job, but he seems to be just about the most likable, honest coach I have seen here.

"If they told me it's my last meal, I'd want steak, potatoes, some corn on the cob and a bowl of ice cream."

Steak and potatoes = success

His favorite actress is Juila Roberts? I might just have to get off the Jerry Kill train. :p He also said that his favorite actor is John Wayne. That has to make a rather odd collection of DVDs on his shelf. At least we never had the chance to see John Wayne and Julia Roberts costaring in a movie.

I get the Julia Roberts thing, but then "he totally redeems himself" with his favortite comedy-Animal House! Gotta like this guy.....

he is a boss. I cannot wait to cheer my ass off for him and his squad. He is a great role model for everyone and seems to be a genuinely good person, and I will put as much support behind him as I can because he is the type of person I want leading our program.

He's doesn't like white people.

That was a great article.

I know I should be thrilled the university got their 12th choice. This is a new era of Gopher football.

The Gophers have had a tradtion of not hiring coaches who have had winning records as D-I head coaches. Abandoning this tradition by hiring a winner frightens some people.

Who gives a flying *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# what choice he was? Maturi was in charge - his first 30 choices were probably wrong anyway. Have you actually researched him, read any articles, or anything constructive?? If so, can you actually give rationale why you think he will fail (besides the fact that we has hasn't had a BCS job)??

Yes, but the collective cognitive dissonance here has left those arguments dismissed. I'm not going to keep going on about it or anything. I'll just patiently wait for him to fail like I did with the last obviously bad choice.

Kill is puffy . . .

Kill doesn't look anything like Sean Combs!

Great interview. I don't think I'd go to the movies with him (except for "Animal House"), but he appears to be a solid guy. I think he's plenty "Minnesota," but that doesn't mean he doesn't have to win games.

Generally, things that are actually obvious are obvious to more people than just you.

I'd actually love to hear the arguments why you don't think Kill was a good choice and not just to I can try to refute them. I was actually always on board with the Jerry Kill hiring. If you remember Khaliq, it was you and I arguing the most well before Kill was hired about him (I liked him and you didn't). I like the hiring of Jerry Kill and I think he will do a fantastic job here, but I think some of the comparisons are getting a little out of hand.

I understood your point at that time was that you didn't like the medical risk. Is that correct? Is there more to it than his previous ailments?
