Saw a tweet from GI that Sawvel is DB coach and Kill said on Sports Huddle that he brought his TEs coach, which I'm assuming is Brian Anderson, as Defensive Quality Control, and Adam Clark, his Director of Football Operations at NIU, as Offensive Quality Control. Both Anderson and Clark will act as recruiting coordinators for their side of the ball. Kill stressed that he wanted football people evaluating needs and handling the recruiting. So Kill brought every from NIU except Tom Matukewicz. He just moved them into different positions to keep them all. I think it's pretty cool he was able to retain everyone while making room for Hammock and Miller.

Good sign of continuity. HS recruiting should get hot next week. I like the RB from Louisiana that might be in the mix right away next week.

I like it.

Speaking of coaches: Where are all those who were shoving the idea of Mike Stoops down our throat as a "great" choice for the Gophers? I hope last night was evidence enough to for those to finally admit that Stoops is not a good coach. He went Brewster on the bit last night. 5 straight losses to end the season. Under .500 for his career at Arizona.

I will take Jerry Kill in a heartbeat over a clown like Mike Stoops.

Like Bowden and Pelini, the name carries a lot of weight with people. He hasn't been altogether terrible at Arizona, but I more confident in Kill.

Louisiana running back...

...is Dante Butler of New Orleans. Three stars; a fair amount of BCS interest.

Sawvel

I read his biography and it looks as if his teams have a specialty for blocking punts.

Expect this staff to focus a lot more on the kicking game. The only blocked punt I remember during the Brew years was against Illinois in '09.

Just looking at his photo he looks mature and ready for the next level.

And according to GI, "Butler wants to hear from Gophers".

He has an offer from NIU and was being recruited by Coach Kill & staff. I have a feeling he was very impressed and wants to follow Kill to Minnesota.
