Minnesota-Duluth just won the Division two championship...It was a good game to watch. 20-17 over Delta State I think...

Way to go UMD!!!

It's awesome to see a college from your hometown do well and hear some players that went to your high school win a championship.

David Nadeau with the game winning kick with no time on the clock!! Overall a great game

Great win. Congratulations to the Bulldogs.

One remaining question: Will Tim Brewster mark this down as a win and a national championship on his resume'?

Congrats to the Bulldogs. Very entertaining game and they found a way to pull it out. A real thriller.

They not only beat Delta State but also the on-field and replay officials. They tried hard to hand that game to Delta but in the end the Bulldogs pulled it out. Congrats!

No kidding, the officials on the field and more surprisingly in the booth were ATTROCIOUS and every big call went against UMD.

Big time props to Coach Bob Nielson and the UMD team for earning their second national championship in three years.

I hear ya there!!! I went to HS in Superior and we've always followed the Bulldogs closely (seeing at UW-Superior didn't have a team), UMD has always been my first college football love.

Go Dawgs!!!

Congrats to the Bulldogs!!

They did this without their starting RB, LB, TE, and WR...... impressive! Great to see guys step up in the biggest of stages.

It also shows just how strong the NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) is. With Winona State in basketball, Concordia in volleyball and UMD in football.

I didn't start watching until the 4th quarter, but it was an exciting one. Great job Bulldogs!

Maybe Division II is getting to easy for them. Could they being considering moving up to the FCS level soon? They seem to be at the level of North Dakota State before they moved up.

It would be nice for UMD to be the other D-1A program in this state and to have a yearly/ever couple years game Twin Cities vs. Duluth. Basketball would also be a benefit as the state would have another potential tournament team to cheer for.

Really Formo? You go to Superior High School cause I sure did.

I never would have guessed...

Two Smurfs are on this board? J/K. I always wonder what the results would be when UWS dropped football (Stupidly) all those years ago...Glad to have you both.

I've never actually heard the Smurfs thing before...now that you mention it, our colors are a bit smurf like. Kinda clever.

On another note, UWS always had a decent football program. Still don't know why they dropped other than for economic reasons. Oh well, good thing for UMD.

Straying from the subject, UWS was terrible at football. UW-Superior won a total of 21 football games from 1973 to 1992. That's one win per year.

Don't tell me you're from Denfeld...

Class of 2000. Proud Spartan. Worked at Shamrock for 3 1/2 years. GO BIG BLUE!

Not sure when you attended there, but when I did we were considered Superior Senior High School (SSHS) as opposed to SHS. What's awesome is when I was there, we had a chant just like the Gophers do everytime we scored.. S-U-P-E-R-I-O-R, Superior, Superior.. YEAAAAAHHHHHH SPARTANS!!

Class of 2003 baby...that was all Coach Mestelle. Except we didn't get to do it much for our Spartans

I agree SSHS not SHS they switched when I was a senior.

Yeah, I do recall Coach starting that up when I think I was a soph. As much as I hated his philosophy, it's because of him that I became a Gopher fan. My junior and senior years he'd take the entire football team to the Dome to watch the Gophers. Not sure why Minnesota and not Sconnie, but because of it, I started to follow Goldy.

Got back from Alabama late last night. The game was pretty fun. More UMD fans than I thought there would be. Everyone down there was really nice, and driving for 34 hours this weekend I am pretty glad the game was so good.

I really hope the Gophers get back to going to bowl games soon. This was my first long trip to see a football game, I'm pretty excited to do it again.

as well as SCSU, who should have beat Duluth at their place in the second round, but our place kicker missed three field goals under 30 yards, including one under 2 minutes, and one in OT to win it...

I wouldn't say it's getting too easy for them. It's not like they blew everyone out and have now won 8 championships in a row.

There has been mentions of them moving up to D1 in the past. I think it's still possible but probably not for awhile yet.
