On X: "Who will be the 1st Power 4 head coach fired this fall?"

yeah, not sure how Dabo stays around. He peaked with Watson and Lawrence as his QBs and hasn't really done much without them.

Dabo's overall record is insane at Clemson, two Natty's, two runner ups, nine conference titles, never had a losing conference record in 17 years. Last year was a down year, but they would be insane to fire the one of only two active coaches with multiple FBS National titles
I agree. I don’t think Clemson will fire him given they are still a regular in the playoff despite being outspent in NIL.

Yet he’s hung around for a while fielding wonky teams…. I’m not sure Clemson can do better?
pre-NIL and portal I'd agree that they probably would do worse than better. But now when you can recover your roster quickly if you mess up a coaching hire, I'd take the chance.

That's all in the past though, he's not adapting well to the present. By the reasoning above, Belicheck should be coaching the Patriots as long as he wants to.

He has a top 15 2027 class. I do think he has the benefit of being in the ACC. It will be interesting to see how he does over the next few years.

I think you would be surprised.

If you take away his first two years and 2025 he is winning 80% of his games outside of the Watson/Lawrence seasons.

I think the issue is he doesn't use the portal. It seems like he's still trying to win the old fashioned way, that's why I mentioned him. In today's day and age, you gotta go to the portal every year.

I wonder though. Pre Dabo Clemson was just a middle of the road ACC team right?

There might not be any magic there other than some weird-o coach who inexplicably got promoted from WR coach to HC.
