Texas Tech transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby is checking into a residential treatment program for a gambling addiction.

From my interpretation (and the NCAA’s), Sorsby’s betting was not an integrity risk to the game [as far as influencing the outcome of games related to betting].
The bolded is you just making shit up. They f-ing suspended him. Other leagues are preventing him from joining right now. But no, nothing related to integrity....

Go ahead and rephrase it however you want to in order to fit your personal view of the world - just don't expect anyone else to believe your nonsense.

NCAA said there was no issue with the integrity of the games he played in

they did say, however, there would be issues with integrity of the sport letting college athletes bet
"It would effectively sanction sports gambling by the most vulnerable student-athletes -- those suffering from a gambling addiction could continue to bet, knowing they could follow Plaintiff's lead and rush to court if caught," NCAA attorneys wrote. "It would create unfair outcomes for the many student-athletes who have resisted the temptation to gamble, or who have gambled and been punished under the same rules Plaintiff now seeks to evade. ... And it would undermine the integrity of college athletics by rewarding conduct that is universally prohibited in American sports."

The NFL said that he has not shown he appropriately treated his "gambling addiction" which led to compulsory use
"Brendan has a mental health condition that predisposed him to compulsively use predatory and addictive online gambling apps," attorney Scott Tompsett wrote in a letter to the NCAA that was included in court documents filed Friday.
"[T]he high volume of Brendan's gambling was a direct result of his mental health disorder: an anxiety condition that manifested in compulsive gambling,"

The NFL said no to this year as there was no evidence that he had truly addressed his "mental health" condition or shown evidence it was behind him and that this could be an issue of the integrity of the league if he has not resolved this.
"The issues provided by your petition are too significant, and too closely tied to the league's core integrity interests, to permit meaningful review within the timeline presented,"
"Available information nonetheless indicates that, over the course of your collegiate career, you knowingly engaged in repeated and significant violations of NCAA rules designed to preserve the integrity of athletic competition," NFL general counsel Larry Ferazani wrote in the letter. "Your petition does not address these matters. Nor does it demonstrate accountability for your conduct or indicate whether, or how, you would adhere to the league's rules and policies governing the integrity of competition."

the NCAA went with the easiest pathway to get a ruling they knew would succeed (its very clear gambling on your own team is automatic suspension with possibility for career over). Why would they try get hung up on whether he could influence games or not unless they had him dead to rights when they could already be done with using the former? Just opens them up to litigation

Can't there be multiple levels or aspects of integrity?

If Sorsby gets tagged with 1 Season ban vs Lifetime that would seem obvious.
