All Things 2025-2026 Minnesota Timberwolves Offseason Thread

Why do you think GS, Cleveland or even Miami aren’t a fit? The first two were listed as the co-favorites in the articles I read
I am just talking about basketball fit.

GS is a media dream. And it was previously assumed he wouldn’t take a veteran Minimum. Cle and Miami because people lack creativity. They assume since he was there that that is what he wants.

Basketball wise Twolves and previously the Spurs. Plus, LeBron is known to rave about Ant. He wants this year to be about the fun. He wants to compete for a championship.

My homerism says it’s a lock.

My rational side says, he is going to actually consider it. He really does make for a good match to what he has publicly stated.

Cle would be the other one I’d think that would be tempting, as it’s home; but they don’t really match for the BBall logic.

Let’s ride with this ⬆️⬆️⬆️

Bonus - we’d get a statue of AROD and the new arena would get built if they win it all.

LeBron stated he's willing to sign a minimum deal with a team for the right fit. Hmmm...

LeBron James' final destination? Power ranking every team's best pitch

2. Minnesota Timberwolves (Score: 43)
LeBron James goes north to prove the final chapter was always about winning.

This might be the best pure basketball fit. Minnesota already has the star in Anthony Edwards, and a young co-star in LaMelo Ball. They have an elite defense anchored by Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels. They have been tested in the playoffs, but they've fallen short and LeBron fills a clear need as a connective ball-handler. He wouldn't need to be the engine every night, or defend the best player every night, or carry the franchise. He'd only have to lead them, and all of them together could end up creating beautiful basketball.

There's an entertainment value factor here with Minnesota. Ant is such a big personality, and LaMelo brings a different kind of chaos. LeBron could mentor Ant, the old face of the league showing Ant how to become the next face of the league. Going to Minnesota would also prove this decision is about winning. He's not choosing a glamorous market or the homecoming. He's going to cold, dreary Minnesota to lead a basketball franchise further than it's ever been, because he sees something special in the on-court product that's just missing him.

Gotta imagine Celtics fans aren't thrilled with Brown going to a rival for a 36-year old.
There has to be more to the story that explains this move for BOS sending a 29-year old All Star for an old guy, two (2) picks likely to be in the 20s and a couple of irrelevant pick swaps. And they sent him to a Division rival to boot.

BOS got ripped off.

But they created the issue. They overplayed the market for Brown; And destroyed the market.

That played out so ridiculously. Truly thought that Brad Stevens would have handled it so much better.
Philly’s gotta be stoked to rid themselves of PG and not on the hook for this contract the next two years

He will earn a base salary of $54.1 million for the 2026-27 season and holds a player option worth $56.6 million for the 2027-28 season.

Sorry. Don't want LBJ. If they sign him, it becomes a collection of personalities instead of a team. LA was super polite and respectful about it, but they didn't want him either. The NBA is a pecking order league and whose team would it be? Ant's? Melo's? LeBron's? It would be a traveling media circus that would be too much for Finch. Spoelstra, Kerr, Mazullo or any other coach to manage. If I had a choice between 42 year old LeBron or Jaden/TJ starting at the four, give me the latter, as less than ideal as it would be. Thanks, but no thanks.

That will never in a million years get you out of the West.

They have the opportunity with Bron at the 4 yo Det and win The Finals, which is the goal🤦‍♂️

It’s a one year experiment - grow some 🏀🏀 Bradley😉

Remember when Malone and Payton went title hunting with the Lakers at the end of their careers? How'd that work out?

Beal has a statistically better chance of getting into the HoF than 42 year old LBJ has of bringing the wolves a title.

The joy is LeBron isn’t bringing you the title. He’d be the 3rd option behind ant and ball

The basketball fit is fine. The media stuff would be interesting. However he’s been fine taking a more secondary role. His usage was a career lowest this year. The problem more is his outside shooting percentage to me, but if he could get that back up nearer his career average, he would be a huge asset to this team in the playoffs

You put Gary Payton in the same sentence with one of the greatest basketball players ever🤯??

Malone isn’t in the same zip code either (although at least he was MVP); he also only averaged 13.2 his last season in LA, because he was cooked - while your new king was just named 2nd team All-NBA🥳

False equivalency BS - your specialty Gary - I’ve rechristened you after typing an even bigger expert opinion than Bradley is a HOFer🤦‍♂️

Thats not quantifiable at this juncture - at least you didn’t stoop to telling me the Wolves would have a better chance with a scarecrow at the 4 it someone who can’t play D - I’m guessing even you can figure out which is McDaniels and TSJ🤣

I hope Bron signs with the Wolves as there will be some form of bet betwixt us, otherwise I’m going to have to break out my old friend, the Shine box whenever you post anything Wolves related🤠

I find it impossible that anyone here dislikes LeBron more than I do, but if he's willing to come to MIN for a near minimum deal, I'll personally pick him up at the airport and pay for his next round of scalp reduction.

C Gobert
PF Lebron
SF McDaniels
SG Ant
PG LaMelo

If healthy, that's a really tough out for any team. He's not coming here so it's all a moot point anyways. Despite all of the GSW speculation, my guess is he ends up in PHI or MIA.

It didn't work out well for Payton with the Lakers. It did work out well for him with the Heat though. He won a title in 2006.

But generally, I agree with your point.

Denver is as Fd as the wolves are. Had to be for min
Yeah...as great as Jokic is, it really seems like DEN is falling further behind OKC and SAS. We'll see how well LaMelo fits in with our roster, but if all goes well, I see MIN gaining ground on those teams this offseason and firmly ahead of the Nuggets and everyone else in the WC.

Agree feel firmly 3rd, though we may finish worse in the RS. Houston will be in the mix, Lakers will take a step back, no one else in the West looks like they're going to be making up major ground

Problem is the gap between 1 and 2 and the rest of the field is still going to be sizeable for the coming year but of course health always is going to dictate things in the postseason

Denver is cooked

Both Joker and Murray were All NBA last season and they still couldn’t get out of the first round. I think there window has closed, barring the emergence of a third amigo.

Joker was getting impatient last season. I think one more early exit and he’s gonna want out.

Marvin Bagley to Denver. I thought he would be a descent realistic option. No idea what he actually signed for.
The veteran minimum.

Big miss by Connely imo. How in the world does Denver beat us for him? And if Connely wasn't interested.... that's a problem.

He is striking out with filling out the roster big time. Get LeBron and I take it back.

I'd rather just sign Enrique Freeman than add Bagley.

I believe the main 4 we end up adding will be more of a stretch 4.
