All Things 2026 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

I see they promoted Houston to Wichita. If he proves to be able to handle that, he'll start next year in St. Paul with a chance for the big club sometime next year. If he's as good as I think he is, he's our starting SS in 2028.

Austin Voth gone & Rojas going to St. Paul

Fundy back and Raya joining the Big Club

The MLB rules as they pertain to Voth are really odd.

If nobody claims him within 24 hours, he should be able to go right back to St Paul if willing to accept the assignment back. Instead he could be in limbo for 5-7 days.

I think he’s safe 🤠

Perfect description when he started toeing the rubber by Atterberry, he’s worn a lot of 🧢 in his big league career.

The first inning was cool when Rojas struck out the side, can’t wait till his control improves.

Interested to see how Raya’s stuff plays

Buxton is not clutch. The batting average with RISP is beyond awful.

Agree. That's a big issue for him. Most if his damage is done early in games and usually with no one on. Think he presses too much.

More injury updates

— Five weeks after his surgery, catcher Ryan Jeffers (broken left hamate bone) is hitting every other day as he ramps up his workload. Jeffers is also participating in full catching activities, though a timeline for his return hasn’t yet been established.

— Bailey Ober (mild forearm tightness) threw a two-inning bullpen session on Tuesday and has a light ’pen scheduled for Friday, after which the Twins will determine his next step.

— David Festa (right shoulder impingement) threw a bullpen Tuesday, one of several planned for a multi-week progression before he’d begin to face hitters.

— Kaelen Culpepper (glute strain) is pain-free and returning to baseball activity. If he continues to progress, Culpepper could return to the Triple-A lineup by Sunday.

Keaschall starting in RF. That's interesting.
Trying to find him a home.

He’s such a poor defender at second - the throwing error where he threw it between Voth and Royce might have been the final straw - can’t keep giving away outs - thst was his 8 error if the season🤯

Per Baseball Savant his fielding grades out as a 8 (-5 value) defensively on a scale of 1-100.

Yes, he’s a great athlete, but that doesn’t mean he’s/he’ll be a great infielder. Reminds me of a guy I played with in HS, got drafted out of St. Cloud and made it to AAA and his nickname as a junior when I was a senior was Buddha, as he couldn’t field a grounder at SS to save his life, he was scared of hard ground balls, but he could run like a deer/had a good hose and CF was the right spot for him. This might also help him out with his hitting, as I can see his defensive woes affecting his stick.

This also shows what a good baseball player and athlete Clemens is, as he can pretty much play anywhere and does it well, without being a Buddha. He was actually a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award (college baseball’s Heismann) at Texas. He found a home here after being buried in Philly by too much talent.
