Spurs vs Knicks Finals Thread

I almost turned off the TV. Glad I stayed with it.

Fox made a bonehead play, he has an albatross contract and the Spurs don't need him now that they have Harper. However, with a better contract he could play on my team all day, every day. Above average defender, moves the ball, runs an offense, hits clutch shots (except for last night). Too bad the contract makes him almost untradeable.

He's even better than Bradley Beal! (for NYC)

I hate NY fans, but the Knicks players are easy to root for. If Knicks win, it's good for the NBA.

barkley summed it up well
San Antonio is the "dumbest basketball team in the history of civilization". So many errors in the second half mentally. For all the ripping on this board of Finch and his lack of timeouts and on the Wolves for not finishing games, this will go down as an all-timer because of what was at stake. Egregious lack of situational awareness coupled with horrific shooting in the 2nd half and some, we'll say interesting, player usage.

I'm not expecting the Spurs to fold, but they could. Despite the age they've been pretty resolute after dropping games (like when they rolled us 2 separate times after losing a game, the comeback against OKC down 3-2).

Scoring 30 points in a half after scoring 76 in the first though. woof.

They did what immature teams do. They got cocky and maybe a little bored. As amazing as Wemby, Castle and Harper are, they might be too young to handle success.

The Spurs are more talented than the Knicks by a fair amount. If they learned a lesson last night, I wouldnt be surprised to see game 7 in SA.

i think, many thought - including me, thst next year their championship window would open, so if they lose this year, they learn and don’t make the same mistakes moving forward.

SA’s core is significantly younger than NYC; do thru had done learning to do and this was Knicks best and maybe only chance to get a chip, as they’re gonna get old fast.

You’re right G7 wouldn’t be a surprise as 2 out of 3 they’ve lost have been by 1 point.

The only reason I was rooting for the Spurs was the constant celebrity shots.
Im cheering for the Knicks, but if the spurs won........it really wouldn't matter to me.

When Wemby started saying 'I'm in your head, I was full bore Knicks!"

I just wish I'd have seen it.

Scott Foster at it again.

Wemby should have absolutely been called for a Flagrant on the play. Which would have suspended him for a potential Game 6 (4 flagrant points).Brunson has every right to be livid. Injury potential, perceived favoritism and scoreboard impact. Unreal.

I don't know on that.

Brunson goes up and flies forward, I'll never understand how that works.

Brunson just now does a head fake, goes up from 3, and dives into the defender to get the call.

How come the defender never gets their space.

Impressive to see the spurs choke this many large leads away in short fashion
It's a prime example of an inexperienced team unable to finish under pressure in the Playoffs. They are going to be dominant moving forward though...really, really nice young roster.

If they can find a sucker for that Fox contract and use his cap space to fill out their roster, they'll be looking at OKC in their rearview mirror.

I'm betting Fox could be had for peanuts right about now. Easily the worst starter after the 1st round of the
playoffs.

If OKC had a healthy Williams......they win that series comfortably

Trading for Fox was a solid move for SA. Giving him the Max contract looks disastrous. Starting next season, the Spurs are on the hook for Fox at 4/$230M through 2030 and he'll be coming off the bench behind Harper and Castle.

My opinion is the Spurs probably need to attach two (2) Unprotected FRPs to get off that contract. He's a Randle level player that makes $25M more per year.

Fox was brutal shooting the ball, but he still breaks the defense down.

If the spurs get rid of him, I think they take a step back.

The other amazing thing about the Knicks run was how many of their players did they actually draft?
