All Things 2026 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

40 minute first inning in St Paul

Over 80 pitches and a delay to check on Culpepper, who left the game sliding into second on a SB attempt. Looks like he cut his lip pretty bad by having his helmet bounce off the base and catch him in the grill.

Article about Lee moving to third. Good to see his positive attitude about it.

BOSTON -- After playing 45 games at shortstop, Brooks Lee is expected to get most of the playing time at third base starting Friday against the Red Sox. The Twins plan to rotate Tristan Gray, Orlando Arcia and Ryan Kreidler at shortstop. The decision at third base was made after the Twins sent Royce Lewis down to Triple-A St. Paul.

Lee is not a stranger to the hot corner. Lee has played in 56 games at third over his three-year career and has yet to make an error.
“With the personnel we have here, we feel that [Lee is going to fit us better at third],” Twins manager Derek Shelton said.

Lee is on board with the switch in positions.
“I feel good about the move. Whatever helps the team win,” Lee said. “They think I’m better at third, and I’ve shown in the past that I’ve played a great third base. I want to be in that lineup every day.”

Hey Twins, this was supposed to be sarcasm....

Crazy that the 1at name (Topa) on the list was DFA'd and was probably considered one of the more "reliable" options coming into the Season.

What’s treat yo have each team with a successful squeeze play in a game - can’t remember the last time thats happened. Never would have happened under Rocco.

I like Shelton’s managing thus far.

Bradley scheduled to go today; he’ll be limited, do unless Rojas is sent down to make room for him, guessing he’ll piggyback.

Taj is officially back, with Garcia DFA’d

BOSTON, MA – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have returned right-handed pitcher Taj Bradley from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 15-day Injured List.

Bradley, who was placed on the Injured List on May 9 with right pectoralis muscle inflammation, made one start on rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on May 17 against Columbus, allowing one run on two hits in 1.2 innings pitched, with two walks and three strikeouts. Prior to being placed on the IL, Bradley made eight starts for the Twins, going 4-1 with a 2.87 ERA (47.0 IP, 15 ER), 17 walks, 52 strikeouts, a 1.19 WHIP, a .219 opponent batting average and five quality starts. Bradley is scheduled to make the start this afternoon against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

To make room for Bradley on the 26-man roster, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Luis García for release or assignment. García appeared in nine games for Minnesota, going 0-1 with a 10.38 ERA (8.2 IP, 10 ER), two home runs allowed, four walks and two strikeouts.

I wonder what the long term plan is with Rojas. He doesn't really seem to have any issues giving them multiple innings, but on the other hand, he looks like a stiff breeze could topple him.

TBD from everything I’ve read online.

He’s listed at 6’2” 190lbs and is only 23 - he turns 24 at the end of the year.

I’m guessing he has access to better nutrition now with: nutritionists, MLB postgame spread and per diem, in addition to trainers/workout facilities and he’ll gradually add some more weight/strength. Pedro and Tim Lincecum were both 5’11 around a $1.80

He’s well regarded because he asks questions and follows advice well - conducts himself as a professional,

He keeps performing like this and it’s no brainer to keep him up.

For the old timers here, is Rojas reminiscent of Tom “The Blade” Hall?

Tied with Toronto for the last playoff spot, and we won the season series against the Blue Jays 4 games to 3, so the tie breaker goes to the Twins.

The bad news is the Twins have only played 15 games against teams at .500 or better. Only NYY has fewer, at 10 games. But today, we’d make the postseason!

I ain’t that old 🤣

I was born in 66 and per his Wikipedia page he pitched for the Twins from 68-71.

Listed at 6 feet (180 cm) tall and 150 pounds (68 kg), he was nicknamed "the Blade", owing to his slender physique.[1] - Wikipedia

If the season ended today, the Twins would be in and playing the White Sox in the Wild Card round.
