They officially lined up behind the Big Ten this week, the pitiful and the pandering looking for a handout.

Imagine what it takes for the ACC to believe the Big Ten once again, to buy in with the conference that not long ago whiplashed the ACC and Pac-12 into something called The Alliance to fight back against the SEC adding Texas and Oklahoma.

Then left both for dead — including killing off the Pac-12 as we knew it — when the Ponzi scheme served its brief purpose.

But now — now — the Big Ten is serious with this super duper 24-team College Football Playoff. This unique plan that will vault college football to unprecedented heights, and make everyone rich and fat and happy.

The Big Ten wouldn’t pull a fast one again, would it? Can’t be forming another Alliance with another ulterior motive, can it?

The Big Ten already burned the ACC once. So this week the ACC… trusted the Big Ten again with 24-team CFP. Don’t call it reform. Call it a handout.

I don't mind a 24-team playoff. Those bitching about the irrelevance of the last dozen or so teams making the playoff also bitch about the irrelevance of the bowl games those same teams would have otherwise played in. I'm guessing the playoffs get better ratings. Maybe its just me enjoying the small college playoffs that have large brackets.

The 4-team CFP and 2-team BCS are long gone never to return...as are the magical New Years Day top bowl game matchups.

The B1G did not breakup the PAC-12. The PAC did it to themselves with two lousy commissioners and even worse TV deals. And they still had a chance. but thePAC turned down a TV deal before it was offered to, and then signed by the Big 12.

And of course the B1G is trying to optimize the future for their schools, just like every other conference.

Not me. Plus, it's not like "the bitching" just cancels things out and makes things even again, like we didn't just trade one bad thing for another bad thing.

I think that's it. This is going towards something you are already familiar with and liked. You're ignoring the group of fans that are on the opposite side. And none of us (the ones who liked the BCS and what was before it) are interested in watching James Madison or Tulane lose in the first round again. The "newness" of teams like that "getting a chance" is gonna wear off quick after it's shown that 9/10 times the game is over pretty much right after it starts.

It’s a 24 team playoff, see the FCS as an example. There are 4 or 5 teams each year that realistically have a chance to win the title. So with a 24 team playoff, SEC teams, B1G teams, G6 champs . . . All will be blown out. It’s not a G6 exclusive. Get used to that. 16 is a better number for a playoff. But giving “some level” of access for leagues is good for the game.
