Minnesota Wild vs Colorado Avalanche Series Thread

Got a mediocre Wally game when if he’d been good this was a win. Team defense without ek and brodin is ROUGH. Next big decision for hynes incoming in net
Mediocre is an incredibly generous description of Wally tonight.

Gus should get game 2.
No he should not. out defenseman were not good tonight and that mostly why we loss. I'm not blaming this loss on Jesper Wallstedt. Our defenseman tonight were bad.

There’s obviously much more blame to go around than just him but you’re not going to beat the best team in the league without making some big saves. It’s not good enough just to stop the easy ones.

It was a stinker

Get in a good skate tomorrow and shake it off

Hah...I had exactly the same thought after two (2) periods. I kept waiting for Butsy Erickson to jump over the boards.
Ironically the one playoff series with DU in the 70s I remember was low scoring: 3-3 and 2-1 with the Gophers winning the total goal series in 1974. (Pete LoPresti was the Pioneers’ goalie.). To your point the 79-80 team comes to mind: Butsy; Aaron Broten; Tim Harrer; Steve Ulseth…

Way, way, way too many high danger chances for Colorado. Hard to imagine many goalies holding up against that onslaught for the whole night. As far as Ek and Brodin, everybody is banged up this time of year. Foligno did his best to remove Makar, which is what he does; Makar only missed the 1st period basically though. I couldn't tell if he was skating at 100% when he came back or not

I would be concerned switching to a guy that hasn't played in over 3 weeks. There's no time to knock off the rust.

His shot wasn’t effected as he tallied 2 goals

Boldy and Kaprizov combining for 4 shots in Game #1 isn't nearly good enough. Hartman led the team with 7 shots on goal. Faber was 2nd in shots with 5.

The biggest question is whether the team will give Filip Gustavsson the start on Tuesday or Wallstedt. As much as Wallstedt giving up 8 goals isn't great, Gustavsson has to be pretty cold at this point after having sat all of the last series against Dallas

I don't think it's going to matter who is in the net if the defense is that bad again.

Gus in the net tonight per Russo

Fun fact for these playoffs:

Minnesota is 4-0 in games that start before 8pm and 0-3 in games that start at or after 8pm.

The Athletic is creating its own goalie controversy!

Gooo Wild!!

is anyone scouting the other teams power play? The number of goals given up on set plays is inexcusable.
