Teams don't want to trade away next year's picks. Everyone expects next years draft will be talented and deep. Greenyard wanted to be paid like the 15 sacks a season guys. He gets hurries, but those are way less impactful than sacks. Sacks force third and longs, and sometimes picks.

I think the GM, coaches, scouts, were told by the Wilfs we spent major money on the team last year and had a bad year. So, this year is to remain competitive at a cheap salary, while building for the future. Too bad they can't ever get a consistent offensive line. They basically ignored it until the 7th round.

In 2025, the Vikings OL was suppose to be: LT Darrisaw, LG 2025 first round, C 2025 high dollar free agent, RG 2025 high dollar free agent (replaced an under performing guy), RT ONeill

On paper, that's taking the OL very seriously. Of course, it was almost comedic how poorly it worked out from injuries.
 

I have to laugh and shake my head at how hard Barreiro was trying to troll on the Greenard trade this week. Begging Alec Lewis, Seifert, and Goessling to go along with his stupid tirade.

He tried to frame it like the Vikings should have told Greenard to pound sand, to go hold out if he wanted to, but that he was under contract and tough shit.


No, Dan, you dumbass, that's not how it works. You don't shit on players like that. That's not the Vikings and it shouldn't be any owner's way, if you want players to actually want to play for you.


Giving Greenard the payraise he and his agent wanted was not a priority, because Dallas Turner played so well and is ready to step up. So we found him a team willing to pay it. Godspeed

That's how you treat players. That's the right way. That's what you get with top shelf ownership, as the Wilfs have proven time and time again that they are tops in the league. Skol!
 


I'm not sure how Charley Walters from Pioneer press still has a job when all he does is trying to make up stuffs on Vikings.

They probably decided with the change in GM that this was the year they would finally stop kicking the salary cap trouble can down the road.
 

Pretty good look at strength of schedule next year from Warren Sharp.

Vikings and Packers right smack in the middle around 16th; Lions with one of the easiest schedules and the Bears with one of the more difficult schedules at 27th

With teams going worst to first and first to worst in the NFL every season, trying to predict the strength of schedule in May is useless.

While that's true, in 2025 I think the Bears having the NFC North #4 schedule as opposed to the Vikings #2 slate, was a major difference between Chicago Winning the Division and the Purple missing the Playoffs entirely.

Maybe the #1 reason. In hindsight.

No doubt. When looking at things like Win Totals and projections for the upcoming season, I'm pretty much looking at opposing QB's; what QBs do you have to beat. That's pretty much what it boils down to.
 

It is kinda interesting how the ‘paid’ reporters all quickly responded. Hmmmmm

The only differences in teams played were:

Vikings
Atlanta - L
Seattle - L
LA Chargers - L

Bears
Saints - W
San Francisco - L
Las Vegas - W

You can argue that based on wins and losses alone but there wasn't much difference between the Saints and Falcons, and despite Seattle winning the SB, them and San Francisco too.

So the only big advantage was the Raiders over the Chargers.

I feel shortchanged that I heard the reports that the "Wilfs are definitely not putting the Vikings on the market", before even knowing that Walters or whomever were saying/speculating it was at least a possibility.

I missed out on a few hours of false hope.

The "Multi-Generational Plan of Succession" is really devastating. General rule of thumb is nepo-Owners do worse. The Pohlads bear that out in 2 generations now.

At least in the Wilfs case, it's not a real high bar to be lowered any more than it is already. The Trophy case remains barren in Winter Park.

Zero Lombardi or even Halas Trophies in their tenure.

2026 vike season will burn down and folks will say ‘yeah, they shoulda hired a GM earlier.’ So predictable.
