2026 NHL Playoffs Thread

Well, that solves that I guess.

At a minimum, I'd be inclined to bet the Over (at 6 goals), which is slightly juiced to the Under at -115. VGK favored at -165 seems like quite a steep price. I'd lean more towards a coin flip

Over 6 going to hit again. Glad I went with you and the guy and hammered this one too. Series has been a hell of a lot of fun

Woof.... Not exactly a stellar special teams performance in this series by Utah.

their experience versus Utah's inexperience is definitely showing. Utah got really scattered late in the game with Vegas' push

to be honest, both teams PPs have sucked. it's the shortys that are particular cripplers though. Last nights giveaway from Kerfoot is awful. He has to know better in that spot than to expose the puck to high danger

The experience advantage was the only reason I had decent hopes for the VGK in this series. Utah came into the postseason read hot and they have a lot of young skill and speed.

Rumor has it, Torts tried out FOUR different PP1 combinations in practice the day before yesterday and he didn't like ANY of them.

Vegas is 12-6 in closeout games, I like their chances tomorrow night. Utah will definitely come out flying though. They are still riding the high emotions of their first ever playoff series at home. The building will be loud as hell pushing the home team.

heard that. Sounds like classic Torts haha.

Think this one goes 7, but if Vegas gets the 1st one, you may see the pressure get to the Mammoth. Been one of my favorite series so far so I'm hoping we get the full 7

Just a normal intermission for a Wednesday night game in late April...

Tip of the hat to DJ Joe Green, bringing it every home game

I was really disappointed in the production value while there for the NCAA tourney. This is the kind of shit Vegas does. The NCAA should've embraced it

Oilers looked old and tired last night. McDavid was a turnover machine. Will be an interesting off season for them

This Utah team has proven to be a pesky one so I'm going to avoid betting on this game but history sure leans heavily in the favor of the VGK:

Up 3-2 following a win

2018 – at SJS – 3-0 Win
2021 – vs COL – 6-3 Win
2023 – at EDM – 5-2 Win
2025 – at MIN – 3-2 Win

Four situations exactly like this one, winning Game 5 to go up 3-2, the VGK has closed things out every time in Game 6, with 3 of those 4 on the road.

Utah's speed has been an issue for Vegas in this series. The renewed emphasis of Tortorella on the D-men activating and getting involved in the o-zone has left them vulnerable on the back end; most of Utah's success at all has been on odd-man rushes going the other way after Vegas blue-liners get sucked up too far.

People are catching on, it's the greatest sport for postseason viewing going right now

Watching the Utah Mammoth in the Playoffs makes me feel sorry for the die hard Arizona-Phoenix Coyote fans.

A couple of real swell guys.

Those die hard Coyotes fans are lamenting the move to SLC a little less tonight.

Cooley may be my favorite player in the league right now. Love how he plays

Cooley showed some immaturity in the playoff series for Utah. Got rattled and took a number of bad penalties that put his team in tough spots. 10 total penalty minutes, led his team in penalty minutes and tied with VGK 4th liner Cole Smith for most penalty minutes in the series.

Not good

While I get people will focus on the numbers, I guess I more look at what they’re asking him to do and the situation. His penalty last night is a mix of unfortunate and battling and a stick comes up. Game 5 id agree he was a little over the edge which their whole team was in the 1st (well done by Vegas to press them early even if it didn’t show up in the scoreboard).

As we’ve seen all postseason, you’re at the mercy of what they call and when. Were multiple trips and takedowns they didn’t call both ways last night and when they choose to call holding is bizarre. If he was doing shit like what you saw from Dallas (Rantanen crosschecking KK in the face or Benn basically all series), I could buy it more. But he’s one of their more gritty guys on a small and fast team and being asked to mix it up against an older and heavier team. Utah should be good for years to come, but they need to pull a guerin and add some hitting/physicality instead of trying to rely on guys like Cooley and Yamamoto to be throwing hits

In theory they should learn the line more as they get older/more playoff experience like what you see from stone and Eichel comparatively, who play very physical (in the playoffs) but rarely get over the line

Always fascinated to see the injury report come out after NHL seasons end. Sounds like McDavid playing on a broken foot/ankle.

Damn.

Halfway through Game 7, Montreal leads the Lightning 1-0 despite being outshot 18-4

Montreal leading Tampa Bay 2-1 and only have 9 SOG.

Montreal heading to the 2nd round. Knocking off Tampa Bay in 7 games. They win the game with 9 shots.
Which is the lowest total ever by a winning team in the playoffs

Wow. This surprised me. Interesting news for the VGK but you have to wonder about line chemistry and things like that when you insert a guy who hasn't played since November 8th. Incredible shutdown 200-ft player, I would guess he'll center Vegas' 3rd line tonight

Crazy serendipity that Montreal had as many Shots on Goal as Colorado had Goals, on the same night.

Both won. Wow.

Why does Carolina have a square “B” on the front of their sweaters?

AI indicates those 2 black flags are the symbol for a hurricane warning.

Rather next level, IMO.
