Kaliakmanis leads the nation in passing yards (1150).

RememberMurray has as good a shot to play in the NFL as AK.

If the right QB coach gets a hold of him you just never know… Imo a weak armed none athlete has a higher mountain to climb that a qb like AK will have to.
Big gun QBs always seem to get the benefit of the doubt, same with guys who can run a bit.

However, I doubt the end results are much different as far as reaching a long career goes.

If Kaliakmanis gets a tryout with an NFL team and ends up getting cut, will Athan's dad call out the team's head coach on social media?

Will the family demand that Dino gets to try out as well?

Rutgers had/has some really good ball catchers. Makes any QB look good. Even AK. I can’t believe he’d get drafted but nobody asked me. The Vikings took an average ability QB as a high first rounder. So who knows.

I think you overrate AK as an athlete and arm strength

I agree you never know but he isn’t mobile and he isn’t accurate. He has above average arm strength for a power 4 QB but not above average for an NFL QB

I agree you never know. But I’ll be surprised if he gets even a preseason game snap somewhere

If AK gets a cup-of-coffee on an NFL roster his Canadian Football League stock will rise... probably gets a guaranteed contract...😏

He got drafted. I bet he sees action in a preseason game.

It was a good year for someone like him to be available as the overall QB draft class was awful.
7th round is so interesting.

If you already know a guy isn’t going to make a roster, you basically draft to fill out your preseason depth chart knowing you’ll cut them.

This is why a lot of people say they’d rather be UDFA instead of 7th round.
I think that’s more true than it used to be too.
Can still hit, you never know

I don't think that's how GM's draft, with the idea that they'll be cutting someone in a few months.

The agents of the ones who don't get drafted spew that nonsense. No player out there would rather be UDFA as opposed to a 7th rounder.

When was the last time a 7th rounder got cut before the regular season? What GM would admit that mistake SO early? (And yes, I know the Sanders kid, the safety for the Bucs got cut but that was for personal conduct - spitting on another player. I'm not including players getting cut for that or DWI, etc. I'm only asking about players cut before the regular season strictly for performance reasons.)

If you're a 7th rounder you'll be on the roster on opening day. You'll have your approximately $500K salary for the entire season guaranteed at that point. That's far better than accepting $15-$20K and crossing your fingers on a try-out.

Fewer than 50% of 7th round picks are on the 53 man roster week 1.

The Steelers had 12 picks. They now entering the draft not all 12 will make their 53 man roster. Because they aren’t having a team with 20% rookies. You don’t have to like it, but it’s just math.

There simply aren’t enough roster spots for all the drafted guys to make all the rosters

I agree a lot less make the team than you would think. I believe I read somewhere that like 30% of 4/5/6 round picks don’t make rosters too…
