All Things 2026 Transfer Portal Thread

I think Willis will depend on whether or not they sign Evans and Shinholter will depend on whether thecTexas Tech kid comes here they will need that nil money added to the money they have available to sign those guys! Also think they have a couple big men (6-9 or 6-10) in mind and lined up! I think we will know by late Wednesday the 15th!
As far as bigs go, I hope Matas Denisuas likes his visit and signs. Him and Jorgensen would be great for portal adds, although I’ve heard nothing about Jorgensen.

Jorgenson already announced he's going back to CSU a week or 2 ago

Matas Deniusas has an interesting game. He can shoot the 3 (46 made at 33%), but he also looks athletic and initates contact on the drive (and shoots FT at 75%). Watching his highlight tape he was finishing several of his drives by powering in a dunk. I gotta imagine the staff is feeding him Cade Tyson comps. Tyson made 48 threes (at a 42% clip) his freshman year at Belmont.

Also notable that Cade Tyson never had a particularly high free throw rate until he came to the Gophers (.293, .232. .222, then a massive jump to .558 this year). Deniusas for comparison was at 0.391 last year.

I think he would be a good get for us. If he comes here I'm curious to see how Niko deploys him with JCJ.

Would need a waiver, played 4 years already (12 games last year)

These are the type of guys we need to sign, as they will start to set the market as their compensation amounts leak out. If we get a few more guys in the top 30 signed, we'll just start to slot guys in based on the going rates. Not that much different than when the top draft picks start to sign in the pros and their contracts set the market.

After the weekend many consider Louisville with the best start adding Bidunga and Shelstad.
But, probably 5 teams either did better or are right there with them:
Tennessee has 3 guys-Rubin 11.3ppg 7.1 reb 2.3 asst and 2.3 blks
Ames 16.6 ppg and Lundblade the MVC Player of the Year at 15.6ppg shooting 40% from 3
Houston has two guys- Gillespie at 6-8 with 17.7ppg and 11.3reb to go with 6-1 Thomas at 15.3ppg and 6.5asst
Texas has two guys- Punch 6-7 14.1ppg and 6.8 reb with Johnson at 16.9 ppg and 3asst
Iowa St has 5 guys...Taj Manning 4.2 ppg /5.1 reb, Leon Bond 11.9ppg and 4.7 reb
Tre Singleton 7.6ppg and 4.8 reb, JaQuan Johnson 16.9ppg 3.9 reb, 3.6 asst, 2.5steals and MVC Defensive Player of the Year...that's a stat filler AND Ryan Prather 15.7ppg 3.9reb and a career 37.5% shooter from 3 --- some quantity and some quality --- if all the girls are leaving their NCAA Tournament team because they got no money--who is writing all the checks for the guys a couple days into bidding?
Xavier - has 3 guys- Richard Pitino -- Dominguez 6-6 SG Spain>Texas A&M 10.2ppg 87% free throw shooter 40% from 3 "one best 3 point shooters in the country"
Nwoko 6-10 13.4ppg active, ascending, improving big and Tru Washington 6-4 SG 11.9ppg defensive ace New Mexico>Miami -- retained Gabe Pozzato who missed all season with a knee injury 14.9ppg Italy>Evansville Purple Aces and return Jovan Milicevic 6-10 12.4ppg 3pt shooter who came with Richard last year from New Mexico....need a point guard.

Money might have something to do with it but it might be more of a large scale protest regarding how their AD doesn't care too much about women's athletics, especially after they chopped the gymnastics program during the season

Well, the coach was under his watch but the players tapped out...Pollard said "the student-athletes felt the conflicts were so problematic" they could not continue.

Neither Evans nor Grove are in this top 100 list

Not sure, but I think his parents no longer live in Plymouth, now in Arizona. That might help explain Grand Canyon.
There is a group of bible-bangers in MN metro area that have a presence at Grand Canyon U. Perhaps Heide family is part of that club

Translated, I believe that says Minnesota is willing to pay more than anyone else is for Kyan Evans.
I'm not saying that's not the case, but give Niko some credit... Three players he coached at CSU have been drafted in the NBA. McCollum's first will be this year. If the money is equal or simply close, why wouldn't you go with the guy you know who also has the better track record of player development at this level?

I don't think it automatically means that. Evans chased the money last year and it didn't pan out. It could just mean the offers are in the same neighborhood so he wants to pick the more known & comfortable option (assuming the report is even accurate).
