All Things 2025-26 College Basketball Coaches Fired/Hired/Retired Thread

I'd prefer Ben McCollum....

I would not mind that either.

Sort of hoping that the Hawkeye success this year was a flash in the pan fueled by his Drake portal cadre.

Plus Niko beat them this year.

Bennett took a look at how many Mid-majors advanced to the 2nd Weekend of the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons (nada) and said, "Hello, I must be going to Tempe."
How far are we from a split like they have in football? Jay Bilas has been advocating that for years.

I think we are closer, but not necessarily close.

The financial ramifications of such a change are way beyond my paygrade. Maybe that's the purpose of a 96 Team Tournament which would level set everyone's expectations.

Rumor is they might keep Huebert Davis and fire all his assistants. Had Caleb Wilson not gotten injured then he would for sure be the coach next year and have all his assistants. Since it is taking this long I bet they have feelers out there to see who they can get, sounds like they are iffy on Nate Oats. Personally I don't think Davis is a good coach and they should move on.

Interesting times in Kanas and Chapel Hill

If he is a poor coach, let Cheat keep him forever!

The only way Dirty Nate takes the Carolina job is if they bring back the no-show classes (if they ever truly ended them).

They won’t take Oats. They (falsely) like to think of themselves as virtuous. Oats has not cheated per se, but he’s made clear that he sees little things like being an accessory to murder as distractions which are not conducive to winning, which should be swept under the rug.

I think they will go with an NBA guy with a big NCAA resume(Donovan or Stevens), but if they go with a college coach my money is on Oetzelberger.

When you think about it he's been able to bring his best players with him at each stop, including a diamond in the rough All-American. It will be interesting to see how he recruits going forward. Maybe they are better when they don't have Stertz and the ball sharing becomes better. He's able to bail them out at times.

Niko brought one player from CSU and seemed to have just as good of a roster until all the injuries set in. McCallum has kind of done what St. Thomas did by bringing an entire roster up to each new location.

Man, I can't even imagine what it would be like for Will Wade to be coaching at LSU!
It would be strong-assed. But let it be said that Will Wade just gave NC St another aggravating, very Kevin Keatts-like year. Maybe his advantage is gone with NIL, because NIL makes everyone as depraved and debased as Will Wade.

Rumors of contact between Otz's representation and UNC. Mutual interest. Could move quickly once ISU's season ends.
