Gopher Softball 2026

I see Jessica Oakland is playing SS and hitting 3rd for a very strong Duke team these days. Good for her. She, like Kendyll Lindaman, was a great Gopher softballer.

Watching what's happening, or not happening, on the field, a fan feels embarrassed. They fired 2 hockey coaches. Why stop there?
Fingers crossed we see a change at year end. Can't imagine he does it in the middle of the season.

Seems the only games the gophers win is when Schwartz is pitching. Surprised they have already matched last season conference win total.

I guess we found our next head coach, Coyle does like to keep things in-state.

Tschida is the best coach in the State… but wants no part of D 1

Is there any reason why the present HC hasn't already stepped down 2 or 3 years ago?
Carly Wynn was holding things together and was the primary recruiter. Her leaving happened late in the fall. It was too late to find a suitable replacement. The results indicate she should not continue as the HC after this season.

I put a lot of blame on the Big Ten University presidents admitting the west coast schools into the conference. Those additions to the Big Ten have made the diamond sports of Softball and Baseball totally unfollowable.

We know that the Midwestern teams do not have a chance at winning the conference and so what is the point?

I understand people are frustrated with the head coach, but the whole Big Ten softball/baseball system is just worse now than it was a few years ago.

I watched the Gophers play a pair of softball games in Tucson earlier this season. Barely scratched out a win in the first game, got drilled by Arizona in the second. The difference in talent between Minn. and Arizona was pretty wide at pretty much every position. I watched the Gophers vs Washington on TV this evening. I was shocked to see the Gophers in the middle of the pack in the Big Ten standings coming into the game. I'm guessing that means that, for the most part, most of the Big Ten teams are not very good.

It's not just Softball/Baseball that ClassOf98Gopher mentioned....look at Volleyball, Gymnastics and also Women's Bball. I'm expecting the West Coast dominance in these sports to continue, especially with the UCLA programs in these sports I also mentioned.

I agree with some of you statement. The west coast teams will dominate the big 10 in softball and baseball, but that should be it. Last year. in volleyball USC finished 4th but 5 of the top 6 teams were older big 10 teams. UCLA was great in women’s basketball but Iowa, Michigan and Mn rounded out the top 4.

If there is not a coaching change as soon as the season is over that means Coyle cares nothing about the Softball program!
Softball is too frustrating. Make it easy on yourself and switch over to baseball.

With Iowa losing yesterday the Gophers sneak into the BIG tourney grabbing the last seed. Looks like they will play Washington.

Hopefully Coach is gone by the weekend and we can get someone who knows what D1 caliber softball is like.

Sneaking in or not, the Gophers are in the Big Ten Tournament. This group kept competing and found a way to get there. Credit to Coach Ritter for having them ready down the stretch.

Having them ready down the stretch? Before the one Northwestern win they have lost 10 conference games in a row. If Schwartz wasn't on this team, I don't think they win a game.

Just you wait and see on Wednesday. I love Diet Coke too btw.

Not sure Gophers would win a game at Sparkler or any of the big July 4th travel tourneys

Watched the game. Had a chance but the leagues worst hitting team could not come through. The next coach needs to realize that you do have to score runs. Reasonable pitching with NO offense does not work.

Of a terrible note Wisconsin just won. They had no offense for five innings but were able to manufacture runs to win.

Need to score runs!!!!!!

Most of us agree that a coaching change is due , we have gone from WCWS to this in 7 years. I don’t see us being any better next year. My question is who should come here. Unless there is some NIL money that appears I’m not sure a coaching change is the answer
