Hard to disrupt a hot shooter’s rhythm if you can’t play man defense. Rutgers had a good game play and they found their hot hand in the open pockets of the zone against the Gophers.
Excellent point. You "shoot" a team out of a zone. Rutgers did that but we were sadly left with the option of hoping they would miss vs making them miss. It was a fun, interesting and entertaining year. The best way to analyze a coach and teams performance is whether the did the best they could with what they had? So much other stuff is out of their control.
Also note the guy who made the shot was the conference player of the year. Not a guy you leave free.
