Gustavus (currently ranked 7th nationally) with a record of 26-2 is hosting the first two rounds of their NCAA regional this upcoming Friday/Saturday. They are the only MIAC team to make the tourney this year (WIAC has FOUR) and they open with Bethany Lutheran out of Mankato. Bethany is only 15-11 but won their conf tourney and did have some good final scores vs some good non-conference opponents this year.
The MIAC has only appeared in the national championship game three times this century, with Gustavus dropping a last second 2 point championship game loss to Williams in 2003 and St. Thomas winning it all in 2011 and 2016.
The only unfortunate news for GAC is it is currently their spring break so that will likely cut down on the size of the attendance this weekend. That is a shame as GAC has some great crowds for playoffs over the years.
