Win today and the Gophers are hosting in the NCAA Tournament.

NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee Top 16 Ranking – March 1, 2026*

1. UConn
2. UCLA
3. South Carolina
4. Texas
5. Vanderbilt
6. Iowa
7. LSU
8. Michigan
9. Louisville
10. Duke
11. TCU

14. Michigan State
15. Minnesota
16. Ohio State

The only problem being that North Carolina is a team that can potentially become a top-4 seed now.
Lots will depend on tournaments but NC's good wins are not as good as the Gophers, so they shouldn't be a threat. Yet

Definitely helpful that the #17 team, Ole Miss ,(former OSU player Cotie McMahon's team) lost to lowly Texas A and M. Creates a little breathing room.

Ole Miss is KILLING Vandy. That would be a win just as good as MN's over Iowa. Not good news.

We want ASU to beat West Virgina.
A West Virginia win over Arizona State would not move the needle. Q1 wins at this point would do that. They only have 2 Q1 wins currently. I think they would need to win the conference tournament to move to a 4 line potentially

11:55pm 3/7 - Charlie Crème still has us as a 4 seed

The only way things get a little nervous IMO is if West Virginia beats TCU. If they do, it will be hard to keep them off the 4 line. Which team then gets moved off the 4 line might come down to Gophers or Kentucky.

Olivia Miles' foul trouble might be helping WV to a seed.
It would be easier to get teams to Minneapolis than Morgantown but not sure that's going to help

So far TCU has looked like the worst P4 conference champion in these tournaments. Just a lackluster performance all around. What’s are the chances that Maryland moves out instead of Gophers😬

Based on the last rankings. Ohio state will pass the gophers and so will West Virginia. So that puts the gophers at 17. The question is does Michigan St (0-2) or Maryland (0-1) fall behind the gophers. Those teams have the H2H over the gophers. Kentucky will also be in consideration.

I think the gophers will end up on the 5 line unfortunately

Ohio State is already considered on the 3 line.
I think it comes down to us or Kentucky

Gophers still on the 4 line after today’s game by Her Hoop Stats. Gophers are either the top or second 4 seed. In some order, West Virginia and Maryland are the last two 4 seeds.

Possible factor attendance?

Kentucky For the 2025-26 Kentucky women's basketball season, home attendance at Memorial Coliseum has remained a solid part of their home-court advantage, with a reported attendance of 6,250 for their March 1, 2026, game against South Carolina. As of late February 2026, the team has a 12-2 record at home.
For the season about 20,000 more fans than the Gophers.

Remember, if you seed without regard to conference, the highest 1-seed is opposite the lowest 4-seed, and vice versa.

Notice on Creme’s latest projection, Maryland is opposite UConn (#1) and we are opposite Texas (#4).

That suggests we are perhaps in the strongest position and West Virginia is most likely to supplant either Maryland or Kentucky.

Of course, Crème’s bracketology, while considered the gold standard, isn’t the NCAAs, but we had finally made the NCAA top 16 and we really have done nothing since then to warrant moving us down to a 5. And, in fact, Ohio State moving from 16 to 12 by going 2-1 since the last reveal also tells me that our 1-1 isn’t going to drop us, but given the competition may actually move us up from 15.

Creme ,indeed, thinks Kentucky drops to a 5 and Gophers still host

ESPN bracketology still has us hosting with NC being the 5 seed there now and West Virginia now hosting.

USA Today has the Gophers as a 5 seed going to Norman
They are the outlier. No other bracketologist I could find has us not hosting. The logic is inescapable. We were 15 at the last official NCAA reveal. We won a Quad 1 game on the road and lost a Quad 1 game in the tourney. With Maryland and Michigan State both going 0-2 in Quad 1 games, we should actually have moved up to 14. If that guy is right and every other bracketologist is wrong, I’ll be more than surprised.

Charlie Crème has a write up this morning about championship week last week. It appears by his account, Maryland, MSU, Kentucky we’re all more vulnerable than the Gophers. Seems like WestVirginia moved in. Maryland might actually be the 16 seed if I read that right. He usually is pretty accurate in his bracketology, here’s hoping. Go Gophers!

Agree with you about being surprised if the Gophers do not host as a 4 seed. Of the bracketologies that I've seen, its 3-2 in favor of Minnesota over North Carolina to host. ESPN, Her Hoop Stats, and CBS Sports all have the Gophers as a 4 seed. USA Today (written by an UNC guy) and theixsports have UNC over the Gophers.

The AP Poll is irrelevant, I believe and hope, to the tournament seeding process. Still, I was surprised to see the magnitude of the UNC support over the Gophers. 24 out of 31 voters ranked UNC over Minnesota this week.

Thanks for your post.
Using the NCAA 'S-Curve' Minnesota would be a 13. The 5 seeds strongest to weakest would be; Ole Miss, Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina. Of course there are other factors involved in seeding besides the 'S-Curve.'
Given Crème's track record and supported by HHStats, I am fairly confident we will be hosting.
Go Gophers!!
