Grayson Grove progression

Very true, but both are always hurt
Liam was pretty healthy his one year here unless I am mis remembering. Did Payne miss time as a gopher? Either way, comparing two borderline all big ten centers to a back up center on a 3-8 big ten is absurd, it be like trying to say Anthony Peeler was better than Kobe Bryant

He can’t score. Or shoot free throws.
Just reminded me of the 70’s song, “White boy in the NBA!” “He can’t shoot, he can’t …..score!”

But Grove is better than that by far, he can pass and has a good feel for the game.

Much better than Hurt.

Psh I was yelling AP for 3 all day - SWISH - back in the day out in the driveway!

Fox is one of my all time favorites after last year. That being said he also was pushing on 30 by the time he graduated! I would of course take Fox (if healthy) right now, but Grove is absolutely working his tail off and going from a cast off to a legitimate piece of our team this season. I’m torn between him hopefully being out recruited or finding a way to become that player that other teams love to hate. Especially after he starts to feel like he’s been here for about a decade.
If the gophers are going to be a top third big ten team he will have to be out recruited.

The free throws are pretty funny. He gets the ball and just fires it up there. I'm waiting for a dribble, or a spin in the hands, nope, as soon as they bounce it to him, he throws it up.
I don't know why someone doesn't work with him on shooting with a little arc. Those line drive free throws insure a low percentage of makes.

for sure, the physics of it are remarkable when it goes in! I did notice he took a dibble or two on his free throws last game. It didn't work, but at least he's trying new things!

He needs to go Rick Barry. It's a sure thing he'll have better arch and a softer touch on his freethrows shooting granny style. His pride may fight against him, but he would be a better freethrow shooter if he switched to underhand.

He’s no Tony Campbell 🤠

I would be shocked to find out that nobody was working with him on it but this one feels like a mental block of some kind or a case of the yips. Anyone who has dealt with that knows it is frustrating as hell.

I went through it playing pickleball for a stretch last year. The serve in pickleball is easy, have done it thousands of times but went through a period for a couple of months where I could not get the serve in no matter what I tried. Even more frustrating is I would have stretches when I could get it in just fine when not playing a game but as soon as it was a competitive situation I would miss hit it.

I eventually changed my mechanics to something different and now have a serve I can get almost all the time. Not the serve I would like to use but it works. The yips are a real thing and I bet that is what is going on with Grove at the free throw line.

Sounds like off season. He has changed it up the last couple of games, so they are working on it. Grove is a role player that will continue to improve and provide valuable minutes to this program.

Off-season
Keep Crocker Johnson
Improvement Asuma and Shinholser
Get Durkin back to coming off the bench with scoring
Involvement of freshmen
Decisions on injured players
Grove continue to improve.

Liam was a Jr when he was here. Grove is a RS Freshman
Liam Robbins also took a prep year at Sunrise Christian so was comparable to a redshirt Junior by the time he was here.

I would take Robbins over Grove in a heartbeat but I am curious to see what Grove can grow into. I like his touch on his passes and his ability to run the floor.

Yup
