Medved postgame comments: "Damn it, guys. I am just tired of feeling this way."

This season has been so fun to watch. Team fights and is getting moral victories. (Need to beat the teams they should and not allow those to be letdowns) In year one and having these many guys out for the season is such a punch to the guy.

Teams plays such good team ball and defense.
Team has a nice blend of skill set to play different ways and adjust.
Grove has a ton of potential.
Asuma has ability to be a stud in his final two years.
These two along with Tomes and Anderson can be the MN kids that get this going the right way with a solid portal group this off-season.

Ni(k)o is such a breath of fresh air. No nonsense, no excuses, has great fire and has the "power coach" feeling we've needed. He is pissed at a 6-game losing streak but you can tell how proud he is of this group.

There are going to be some big decisions on guys coming back from injuries. We can't afford to have guys on the roster that can't stay healthy.

That might be the most pointed about the flailing a leg I’ve ever seen a college coach. I’d guess it would be much more explicit had jcj gotten hurt as he came real hard

He just seemed pissed off overall about losing twice to wisconsin. I like it. It means something to him.

Coaches probably also realize that these men are professionals now. Don’t have to hold back as much.

I noticed he really didn't complain about the officiating, and he was right down there on the floor seeing it close up. Yet it seemed like 50% of the in-game comments made it seem like we were getting screwed really bad... As I watched the game, I saw the other guys turn up the defense and play in the way Nico would have liked his team to play defense in the 2nd half.

I saw somebody comment that we needed to run screens to get Durkin open in the second half.
We must have run 35 screens for Durkin in the second half ( certainly at least one on every half-court possession) and Wisconsin stayed with him for all but the 1 late in the game. Never saw Nico complain much about it because he was probably thinking "That's how I teach my guys to fight through and around screens".

This is a big part of it. Guys are getting paid and moving around quite a bit. It's easy to get annoyed as a fan, but I'm sure coaches can get annoyed as well. In a way coaches can be more genuine with players knowing that if they leave, they will have opportunities to replace them with older, quality players.

As far as a segment of people constantly blaming the refs, that's pretty much a constant across most fan boards. Apparently, a lot of people have real difficulty with the concept that people on the other side are trying to accomplish the same thing as your team and sometimes they're just better at it.

Wisconsin could play like a team with a full compliment of players. We can't play that way for very long because we don't have a full compliment of players. Under those circumstances, it becomes easier for the opponent to focus on the players doing the most damage and it becomes harder for us to play with the same level of tenacity throughout the game because of fatigue and the fact that we don't have enough bodies to spread the fouls around.

Nikko and his team gave a truly valiant effort last night under the circumstances but this has become another depressing season. Sometimes it feels like this program is cursed.

My only gripe was they called a ton on the ball that was vastly different between the two halves but next to nothing against bigs or cutters: it was like the WI guards got the SGA whistle (if they don’t start doing something about the theatrical head jerk at all levels they’re going to make it unwatchable as it’s being taught and rewarded) while letting durkin (and wis pff screen shooters) be body checked and grabbed. Officiating should not skew to a playing stile but kudos to Wisconsin on putting the onus on the refs to get involved. You knew the second the half started there was going to be a glut of FTs after a first half it was let play and that to me is a disservice to call such discrepant halves

Niko genuinely hates losing to those (fu*ks). Another reason I know the program now is in great hands. The Gopher program's day is coming. This is the best I've felt about the program since Hoffarber's miracle shot vs. Indiana in Tubby's first season. These losses have been agonizing, but I'm 100% confident it's leading to something special down the road.

Get Tyson healthy, win a few more conference games, and then let's go be a major pain in the a*s for every team we encounter in Chicago. There's no rule that says it has to be only a 1- or 2-game stay.

If we had only made the hire four seasons ago, when it should've been made. ... but I try not to dwell on the past.
