***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA RIVALRY GAME IN-GAME THREAD, BETTER DEAD THAN RED!!!***

See too many times players collapsing causing open 3's hurt more than possibly giving up the 2 at times. Sometimes it also seems like more difficult drives miss rather than open 3's. It was some different people but WI went 15-33(45%) on 3's @ Michigan to beat them and now we let them, although some were longer range shoot 14-33 (42%) . 11 Pt lead you cant be collapsing on the drives to give them dish outs for open 3's.

Also we were only 28% on 3's which needs to get to 32-35%.

Ugh...two tough losses, but at least we are watching basketball.

Grove played 16 minutes tonight. Shinholster 7. Shinholster simply has to play more if we're only playing 7. They both do. Reynolds, Asuma and Tyson all 38/39. They can't keep doing that.

I love this squad. They come as close to maxing themselves out as any time I have seen here. Comparable to the Arob, Hagen, Coleman, Grier, Lawson team years back. Had they won these last two at the buzzer instead of the reverse, they would be in serious tournament contention. As it is we just have to watch and enjoy basketball the way it is supposed to be played. Better days are ahead for this program- finally.

Been fun to see Langston Reynolds develop. Be great if coaches could help him get to 30% shooting 3's. Last year shot 40% on only 44 attempts, but just doesn't seem to have any confidence in the 3 shot.

Think Niko could ever develop Maximus Gizzi for few 3 point plays here and there in big 10 play? Was defense player of year. I know it was Huntington. Just anything to get few extra minutes from bench when you are up 10 or more and yet get a 3 or two to keep the leads. You see those upsets in the tournaments of smaller teams that have 3 point shooter. Seems like Niko can find ways to get the 3 shot.

Wow is this WI team

You’re a regular Grantland Rice—thanks for sharing.

Was at the game. Absolute blast. When they got down buddy thought it was over. I said these guys don't give up, and they didn't.

He was not a good shooter for us. Really stinks that he goes to our rival and is a big reason why they beat us. Traitor.

To be fair, most of us weren't sorry to see him go when he left. He was just fair at Tulsa last season. He's having his most efficient season as a senior and I'm not going to begrudge him his moment.

Terrific game—both teams played beautifully; two first-rate coaches; and well officiated (other than the two Badger flops). Minnesota dominated the series from 1970 to 1999. The Badgers have returned the favor since the Clem era. As a couple of other posters have written: we are coming with Niko leading the way.

Fun game and crazy end of game sequence. Blackwell has some ridiculous range. Sucks that Carrington having the game of his life was key in the loss but a hard fought battle against a good team.

Wish we had just a little more usable depth but it is what it is at this point and the 7 we do have play hard and make it interesting.

Agree. The “traitor” comment is in good fun. However, him going to our arch rival says something about how much he actually cared about Gopher basketball. A lot of kids his age probably didn’t care much about the Gophers as we were a pretty bad team. I really believe Niko will turn this around. What he is getting from this group of guys is nothing short of amazing.

Guessing the guys will keep this fresh in their memory for the next couple weeks and be motivated to return the favor at the Kohl Center.

Gophers played hard and are pretty well coached. Seems like progress from the dismal showings BJ gave us. Just need some more talent and things should get better.

I’d think in two years they should be able to contend
