they also have lineman coming behind defenders and pulling them the other way. at some point they need to start calling something in those situations as its a cesspool of bullshit as it exists right now

That is still a penalty but they didn’t call it here.

It’s not just the tush push they should ban, it’s any push of the ball carrier by the offense. It happens in college too where a runner is stopped and then the OL just comes flying in to push him forward. But if the defense does the same thing they’re risking a penalty because forward progress stopped is called so inconsistently.

Aiding the runner is almost entirely reserved for teammates actually pulling (or even lifting/carrying) the ball carrier, not so much for pushing. On the Allen play, one of those guys absolutely lifted him up and helped move him forward.

Would like to see them ban pushing ball carrier between the tackles and within 5 yards of line of scrimmage. I think there already a rule against pulling (though never called).

If you’re going to allow that crapola, then there’s no reason players shouldn’t be able to elevate off other players trying to block FGs/PATs

Arthur Smith says "hello". If you're not rushing for 150 yards per game in his offense, your team is not winning.

He absolutely neutered Ryan, Bijan, Pitts and London as the Falcons HC. I'm guessing he's a great OL/TE coach but he has no business running an offense in today's NFL.

Under those previous playoff rules, I would have to guess there is a less than Zero chance that Philly rests all their players in Week 18 against Washington

Possible, but I wouldn't say anything definitively just yet. What Smith did last year with the deadly combo of Russ and Fields was pretty impressive, along with the success he had in Tennessee with Tannehill at the helm.

I'll reserve judgment about his handling of the Steelers offense with that OL, and a 42-yr old QB that kinda plays when he wants to at this point in his career; no bell cow RB (Gainwell and Warren are good supporting characters), a head case like Metcalf for your #1 WR...

If the Steelers ever cut ties, Smith would have a job within days.

Apparently Sam Darnold hasn't thrown a ball since Thursday when he hurt his oblique. He may not play tonight. You can leave the Vikings but the bad luck will stick around you forever.

Per this blurb from The Athletic, would be surprising if he isn’t behind center -

Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said he’s “really optimistic” quarterback Sam Darnold will play Saturday night despite the quarterback being listed as questionable with an oblique injury ahead of their divisional-round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field.

“Right now, we’re going through all the protocols out of caution, making sure we are ready to go,” Macdonald said Friday afternoon.

Darnold spoke with reporters Thursday after practice. He said he plans to play.

Really hard to back Darnold in this spot, considering his history in bigger games and that he may not be fully 100%. I'm not betting any of these playoff games, just some player props. Hard not to like the Under on Darnold passing yards, although it's been hit hard, moving from mid-230's down to 225 at this point. Missed the better of that number if you didn't get in above 230.
 

Not surprising, Ryan Clark continues to be pretty much a disgusting POS human being. If it wasn't the "worldwide leader", it's hard to imagine he could get a job anywhere else. Dumb speculation. Just a complete f*cking idiot
