Pretty sure the most critical player in the room this morning is Brosmer.

I also think there's room for self reflection on performance due for at least about 10 other players, plus the HC, O-Line, Receivers, TEs, QB coaches, that should be happening too. Not forgetting the waterboy here either...

Would be nice to have at least a functional offense for the finale with GB. It is more than the QB on this one.

While he was a competent to good college QB, he’s not remotely close to being a #2 QB in the NFL, let alone a starter; I can see him being a third stringer/clip board carrier.

All you have to do is to objectively compare him to Nick Mullins and see the difference in arm strength, accuracy, quickness of release and how fast he makes decisions.

My orthopedist was team doctor for the Jets for a bit and said being on the field, the speed of the game is hard to comprehend and he played D1 hockey. The game is probably just to fast for him, in addition to his obvious physical limitations.

Remember, Trey Lance was the third overall pick in the draft, and he’s a 25 year old backup.

Other interesting stat: because the NFL subtracts sack yardage from passing yardage (rather than rushing yardage, as in NCAAF), the Vikings had, I believe, 3 yards of net passing yardage for the game ... yet won. Detroit's six turnovers really helped.

I’m not a KAM defender by any means, but this year is more on KOC than anything. He has the final say on QB’s rostered (so it seems), and any competent QB puts this squad in the playoffs even with injuries. Shoot Wentz probably has us in the playoffs if he didn’t die (RIP).

McCarthy and Wentz also played behind the Vikings mishash lines this season. McCarthy has improved. Wentz made something from morning. Max might get better but he's not showing that he'll stick so far.

In regards to Max, the people writing off his NFL career based on a couple rough starts have not really paid attention to what QB play in the NFL looks like. No clue how things will play out for him but in spite of how things have gone this year I could still see him being able to carve out a backup role in the NFL.

It takes time to adjust to the NFL....rookie QBs (even the best of the best) are rarely ready to go in their first year in the league.

There's a reason he wasn't drafted. 32 NFL teams didn't want to use a pick on him. He might have a future in the NFL but he's done nothing on the field to prove it or reason for any team to grant him the patience to develop.

Negative passing yardage until the late completion to Jets that sealed the game.

Spielman was fired, need to continue that trend. Can't fire the owners, they're who were stuck with. Everyone else, not so much
 

I would be surprised to see Max on any NFL roster next year, the Duluth River Monsters may have a spot for him though

In all fairness, several sources said the Front Office were fully convinced that Daniel Jones was sticking around and he had an 11th hour change of heart and took the opportunity in Indy. That left them scrambling for other options.

Max did exactly what he was supposed to do yesterday; protect the ball, don't give the game away. Considering the starting 5 OL he had in front of him, against that Detroit rush, I think Max did just fine.

I think back on how Tyler Johnson started his NFL career, I didn’t think he’d make it past Tampa Bay, but he surprised me.

Not confident Max will be on an active roster next year, so I’m happy for him on how far he has came today. Already having a full “active” year 1 in NFL! Huge accomplishment as it is. His rookie salary isn’t too shabby either at $10,000 signing bonus and a $840,000 base salary for his 2025 rookie season.

He beat that “ dog” of a qb the Lions put on the field last night. It was was refreshing to see a defense and an end around play and a few field goals win an nfl game.

100 million dollar quarterback deals are not sustainable. Teams are pretty damn reliant on their offensive lines. back up players and their defenses once the players start dropping like flies from the injuries that are inevitable in the NFL.

The gladiator mentality can not be maintained even with rule changes about how and when the violence can be used once concussion protocol became such a vital part of the game of football. 100 million dollar contacts for superstar quarterbacks just may prove to force nfl and college teams to rely more on rushing attacks and force quarterbacks to be more game managers. It may also lower the huge contracts receivers are given these days

Max and the Vikings won yesterday. Max got the job done for the second game in a row. The defense took over the game. It was pretty damn refreshing if you ask me. But, i know: no one is asking me….

A $140 million wide receiver is even more unsustainable than a $100 million QB. I love Jefferson, but c'mon.

Yeah, it was crazy how 3 Lions rushers were immediately blowing past 5 offensive lineman with no resistance. To the point it seemed rigged...I know it wasn't, but it was that bad.
 

Guys, just settle down. The team has won 4 straight, parts have been ugly,, but none as ugly as the game Detroit had yesterday. JJ was on the verge of having 3 straight wins while scoring 30+ point in each game. Something that many teams would love to have happen.

JJ breaks his hand and in comes Max. Max (who will be on the Vikings roster next year) is well advanced in his ability to read the defenses for a rookie. If anything, Max has been reading the defenses and throwing the ball a little too quickly before the play has developed. This ends up in the ball going to the "spots" before the WR's can get there. In Max's first start, Bercich said that Max read many of the passing plays perfectly, but he was throwing the ball a little too soon. KOC said the same and Max even said that his timing was off with Jet and Addison because he thinks of them as being so fast (and from a lack of reps). He even still did this in the Lions game. Max said that Detroit changed up all their defensives compared to what they had scouted. But the major problems with the passing game were the pass protections and the routes defined by the play calling.

I was yelling at the TV for Max to get rid of the ball on one of his sacks. On the replay, from behind the QB, you could see that the three receivers were all on deep routes that had not yet developed and Detroit had a defender jumping in the air to prevent a drop off throw to the RB. Max took a sack and that was the best he cold have done. KOC mentioned that Max managed the game by taking care of the football. We won the turnover battle 6-0! That means Max turned over the ball ZERO times.

Of course, we have higher expectations for our QB, but Max is on a steep learning curve. Having Zero turnovers versus his first start is a major indicator that he has learned to not do make as many stupid mistakes.

Max will definitely be on the roster for next year. Do we want him as our starting QB, of course not, but he has many traits that are needed in a successful NFL QB.

I watched a bit of the Chiefs/Broncos last night and the Chiefs' third-stringer got more time but was having the same issues as Brosmer. I think the big difference I saw was that the Chiefs' offense is a lot more QB-friendly than the Vikings'. Vikings feature a pretty much downfield passing game. There is usually only one check-down and that is the RB or FB. For that to work, you need a lot more time than Brosmer was being given. No one can process as quickly as was necessary. Lions were basically playing man in the back and putting six or seven upfront on every play. Killed the inside rushing attack early (although the Lions' "ears back" approach killed them on the Addison reverse).

We'll see on Brosmer. He'll go to camp next year. Vikings will likely bring in a veteran back-up and Brosmer will slide back to QB3. I think Brosmer has skills; skills we didn't get to see in the Gopher offense (he's faster than I thought and his arm is stronger that I thought). Whether those skills are at a level that will keep him in the league for an extended period of time remains the question. Lesser talents have hung around for several seasons.
 

Max - 0 turnovers, despite getting sacked 7 times, plus this time on a couple other passes, he got out of the tackle box and threw it away.

Goff - 5 turnovers (although the last one was snapped over his head).
