All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

That was a screen to the left. That ball was supposed to be out quickly.

It was meant to be unblocked.

The double-clutch is what did him in. The rusher on the opposite jumped up to block the screen pass, JJM had to pull it back down for a second and he was f*cked.

DO NOT WIN ON THURSDAY

DO NOT WIN ON THURSDAY

DO NOT WIN ON THURSDAY

You will drop again in the draft (12 to 15 yesterday), you will give up the last place schedule next year, and you will put the packers in the playoffs.

There is nothing good to come out of a win. Therefore, I predict they will win.

With that confidence I trust you will load up on the Vikings Money Line, +210. It's a no lose proposition for you.

Vikings don't care about the Draft. They care about winning football games and this Vikings fan want them to win and i don't care about the draft.

I really don't think there are a lot of holes on this roster. They need some bodies in the secondary and likely a new Center (assuming Kelly doesn't return and they don't see Jurgens as the answer).

They need good health next year more than anything. If they stay put in the 1st round, regardless of where they end up picking, more than likely either Downs, the OSU Safety, or one of the top two CB's will be available and would really bolster the secondary

Everyone says we need to bolster the secondary yet the secondary hasn't given up a pass TD in 6 games, the longest stretch by any team in 38 years.

i can't say i agree, particularly when mixed with what people are talking about with restructuring and needing to cut or trade guys to make the cap work as has been alluded to unless you're restructuring them all and prolonging cap hell

QB: need 1; you need someone to come and compete with McCarthy though given where he's at as well as his health.
RB: need at least 1 contributor; combined Mason (5.8m) and Jones (14.8) cost you 20mil with their contract bumps and Chandlers contract is up. You need a FA or to draft one and I hate that 15mil cap hit for Jones who can't stay healthy and restructuring him just keeps him rostered more years.
WR: need a WR3 and also have to make decision on Addison. Nailor is going to cost us too much to afford and can't see us just pinning it all on hoping Felton pans out or Moore coming off yet another injury. Cap hit there is already 43mil with JJs raise and Addison
TE: need at least 1; Hock is on pace to have his worst campaign statistically and clearly looks regressed. For a guy who will make 21mil next year, something has to give and could be cut for a 9mil cap saving
OL: need 1 for sure; Idk what to make of Darrisaw (this is very very weird) but you for sure need at minimum one new guy in the middle 3 and you need to add depth (Jurgens is a good multi position depth guy, not a starter). ONeill needs and extension. Darrisaw may never be the same and that's one of the most worrisome pieces to me. I would assume they cut Kelly
DT: you'll need a DT. You can't pay Hargrave and Allen 42 mil combined. Then they've got to pay Redmond.
DE: this is one where it could get interesting with trading someone. Gink and Greenard both missed time and Turner has looked pretty good. That said, they will need at least one more guy here but should be a depth guy
LB: Wilson and Pace both are up. you need 2 LBs (or to resign them who will both be more expensive than their current deals)
CB: Will need depth/slot corners but I'd assume they're rolling with Murphy and Rodgers
S: I assume Harry retires so will need a safety
ST: Reichard is on a great deal. Will need to decide on Wright who's been good this year imo

So as far as starters/contributors, 1 RB (imo), WR3, 1 TE, 1-2 OL, 1 DT, 1-2 LBs, S and depth DBs, LBs, OL, and a backup QB. we're in one of those wild spots where our est cap hits under contract for next year are almost 80mil higher on offense and almost $50mil on defense.
There are ample holes to fill once we look at getting ourselves under the cap. I do think we have some moveable assets if we want to go that route (Addison, DE), but also some uggo contracts

think its an exciting offseason coming and is part of why I wanted the pick to be as high as humanly possible given we've got our own 1-3 but nothing of our own in 4 or 5 and how the comp picks shake out

think this is more because we are razor thin back there and Harry's anticipated retirement

I get it, but if Harry doesn't retire, he'll be back next season.

They've spent a lot of high picks on CB's/S's with little return. I think they have bigger needs on the OL, RB, and probably even at QB.

that's very fair. He is the 50th graded safety by PFF so clearly still can contribute. The need is biggest if he retires. Otherwise just need added depth there. I agree with you they have bigger needs if he is back.

You are right that they don't care about the draft. They've been f------g it up for years now.

Meatsauce says the off season is his favorite time of the year. So, if I am hearing him correctly, he loves it when the vikes do not play….ok.

Yep, playing pretty well. Still see some big holes in the zone on occasion and have to find a replacement for Harry.

There were options at CB cheaper than keeping Murphy. Like keeping Blackmon and Nashon Wright.

Because they showed so much while they were here.

The Colts have both Bynum and Blackmon and have a bottom 3 passing defense. The Bears have Wright and are middle of the pack.

Meanwhile the Vikings have a top 3 pass defense.

Ugghh... Found this nugget on Bleacher Report when I was surfing around the latest buzz on the market for Kyler Murray. It sure sounds like the Cardinals are ready to move on.

"Murray is currently signed through 2027 with a club option for 2028, according to Spotrac.

He is already owed $39.8 million in guaranteed money for 2026, and will receive another $17 million in guarantees for 2027 should he remain on the Cardinals roster past March 15.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler previously noted that the "ideal" situation for the Cards quarterback could be to join the Minnesota Vikings and hope head coach Kevin O'Connell can follow up his work with Sam Darnold by rehabilitating Murray's career in 2026.

Whether the Vikings would consider taking on Murray's cap hit, however, could depend on how confident the team feels in J.J. McCarthy going into 2026."

I don't see the fit myself. Murray just doesn't seem like a KOC QB. Mac Jones seems like a much better fit, and I'm sure Mac Jones will have plenty of interest around the league later this winter.

If ARI wants to send us their 2026 FRP as our price to take on the last guaranteed year of Murray's contract and let him compete, no problem.

Murray might be a great fit in Vegas.

As an Athletic.

All of the good teams have a big time RB. The Vikings need to find one. Jeremiyah Love would be perfect.
If Downs and Mansoor are both off the board, I'd be more than fine drafting Love. He can run with speed, run with power, catch the ball and block. True "3-down" RBs are rare today but he can do it all.

Waiving Jones would also save us $14M in Cap space. He's a good football player but that's just too much money for a RB with injury issues at his age.

Exactly (if they ever get the stadium built). Probably what Murray should have done in the first place

With previous regimes, I could see this being a total Raider move. I don't think I see it with this one. Not only do I trust Spytek as the GM to not do something that dumb, Tom Brady also has a ton of influence in the building. There's no way Brady blesses a move to get someone who has allegedly been allergic to "putting in the work".

It might be historic. Will two teams ever try harder to lose in the same game?

Speaking of f*cking up the draft.... I can now totally see the Raiders winning these last two home games to drop them to like 7th or 8th overall in the 1st round.

The Giants are bad, as we just saw firsthand, and Pete Carroll ain't tanking or coaching not to win. I fully expect the Raiders to beat the Giants this weekend, easily.

And then they host the Chiefs with no Mahomes or Minshew. Wouldn't be surprised if they win that one too.

Shit....

OK, I retract my statements about trolling and appreciate this more well thought out post.

I still say that Wisconsin would never bend over backwards to try to lure the Vikings across river, as Indiana is open to doing for the Bears, so it was never something the Vikings would have considered in the first place.

Anyway, I think we're largely on the same page that this is mostly the Bears trying to force a better deal out of Illinois.

Perhaps the Bears are looking at what the Chiefs are doing by moving from Missouri to Kansas, which is apparently a done deal.

The Royals might not be too far behind.

Wow, Missouri has lost a lot of pro-franchise from all 4 majors.

MLB - Kansas City A's
NHL - Kansas City Scouts
NFL - St Louis (football) Cardinals, St Louis Rams & Kansas City (Mo) Chiefs
NBA - St Louis Hawks & Kansas City Kings

Also the ABA Spirits of St Louis were folded as part of the NBA Merger.
