Thoughts on 2026?

Your last sentence is why it is easy. They can beat anyone on the schedule (Maybe not Indiana). Penn State is currently down. Michigan hasn't been dominant Michigan for a couple years. Mississippi State was 5-7 this year. That doesn't mean they can't be better but I don't fear them. I'm not saying the Gophers will pull off another 2019 but if they are going to do it next year is the schedule to pull it off. Hell this year should have been an easy year to be 9-3 if they were an above average to good team. For as terrible as they looked this year they weren't very far away from pulling it off. Why is it crazy to think that they could do similar or better without Ohio State or Oregon on the schedule? They really need to fix the oline, running game and secondary but if they figure some things out it's there for the taking.
One of the few good takes on this site.

FYI, looking on the Google shows that last year's Big 10 schedule was released on December 10th. So hopefully we will know the exact dates and order of opponents in the next week or so.

Are they much better? They gave up 30+ points in every conference game but one. I get the young qb is a great athlete, but what’s the rest of the team look like?
It should be a toss-up game with Gophers facing an athletic dual threat QB, as they did in the Cal game. Coaching and game plan will be important. Contain the QB; don’t just give their receivers 7-8 yards passes uncontested. We win, I think.

Check back in a few months after the transfer portal dust has settled :)

Boy, I don't think Miss State is much better, or even better. Feels like some sec inflation. Two conference wins in the past three seasons.
Coach is heading into 3rd year with program. 1-15 in SEC and 1-1 against Arizona State each winning on home field.

Go look at the box scores and watch film. Their recruiting class is rated higher. Much better than the garbage UNC that came in a few years ago and Cal team lost to this year. They can play and qb has highlights. Only good thing it’s game two and not opener like last year. Better put up 30 plus . Danny Collin’s needs to improves as well. Watch the highlights against Ole Miss. Nevermind here you go.

Cal should have been a win IMHO.
Could have been. Hard for me to say a game should be a win when you lose by multiple scores.

By that reasoning, should the Rutgers, MSU, Buffalo, Purdue, and Wisconsin games been losses? They were all wins by the same amount or less points?

Tackle and block better and we go to a great bowl game destination for the second time under PJ. Fundamentals need to improve quite a bit but I like the talent and expect PJ to bounce back in the portal.

Two gigantic unforced errors by Perich.

They went 1-7 in their conference [beating Arkansas]. Kentucky had a tighter game against Ole Miss.

This fan base is in a sad spot when we are shitting our pants about playing the second worse sec team. Gophers will dog walk these guys at home, stop fear mongering.

I'm already dreading it lol

Unless my group goes picks a SEC school for our football trip next year, Mississippi State will be my first SEC experience. Excited for it.
Get ready to be amazed by how amazing college football actually is on campuses that care. I have been to quite a few SEC stadiums and games. It's a different planet than what you're used to with the Gophers.

Not SEC, but we did Clemson when they won the championship with Watson. That atmosphere all around the area was so fun.

Some of that is we have a great stadium that was built though in a spot with no room around it, to speak of. Most of the really good experiences are on campuses where there is room for RVs and a lot of partying. We don’t have that.

I don't think Minnesota's atmosphere is bad. I think it's one of the places in the Big ten that's probably in the top half, not the bottom half of game day experiences.

The SEC is just on a completely different level.

It’s not fear mongering. It will be the head coaches 3rd year, first full season for Taylor at QB. They won’t be last in the conference next year. I do think MN will score points but will likely have to score in the 30s. Wish I had your optimism but don’t think it will be a relaxing walk in the park either.

The third year for a coach that has won 1 conference game?? They will be a bottom of the conference sec team again next year. If this is as close to a toss up as you suggest, what are you thinking for win total next year? Only 4 or 5 wins?

Our first 3 games are embarrassing. We could win just 3 games and get that xtra feel good late December game with just 3 BIG wins. Put somebody on the schedule that will give us a challenge. Those games do not sell tickets or concessions.
