Gopher Hockey Season Thread 25-26

I'm sure he will come up with some stat that he only scores against poor teams.
If you paid attention you'd know he had six of his points in two games against UND and DU.

Lamb is doing what he needs to do. Still incredibly unlikely to make the tournament and not gonna change my mind about a staff change being needed.

Gophers did what they needed to do tonight. Not the most dynamic, playmaking game but I'll take the win for sure. Let's get the sweep.
I put it at about 73% of a win. Two of the goals were empty net so those can't be fully counted.

Dude, I was being sarcastic. You try to find any angle to find a negative stat and always find a way to root against the team.

Ohio State looks like a horrible place to watch a game

Zero atmosphere

Shitty 80s metal and the whole arena could hear you fart

Get a staff that knows how to recruit a goalie.

Now gonna watch two great hockey teams with two NHL bound goalies

Airey not being able to move post to post is an issue. Not sure he needs to see the net that much more this season.
100 percent correct. Way too slow moving laterally. I have seen enough to say we need to stick with one goalie. My other main takeaway is that our lack of sustained offensive pressure and our lack of shot quantity is mostly on the D. We just don't seem to be able to break out cleanly (maybe 1 out of 6 times we do). That puts us on our heels a lot. When we do have clean breakouts, we generally can at least hold out own with offensive pressure.

Anyone with eyes knew this D unit is pathetic and was going to be a major problem starting the offense. The staff failed to recruit and here they are.

Airey reminds me a lot of Skinner (Oilers). Bigger dude and can flash randomly but his puck tracking and movement is just so sketchy he’s hard to play confidently. Team did it last year when he was in too where they just looked more hesitant when he’s in there.

Some of the breakout looking worse is also Airey. He does not play the puck anywhere near as well as DiPasquo (which is a very underrated aspect of his game)

Funny how it works. Gophers win yesterday and Mr Sunshine doesn't post. Gophers lose in OT, and his typical negative posts spew out.

I was hoping the Gophers were turning a corner this season after Penn State and the Denver game. Unfortunately it’s a step back after a step forward.

You can see who a team is VERY early. They are who we thought they were. That is, not very good at hockey.
