Gopher Softball 2026

Looks like a very young team, majority are underclassmen. I didn’t see many additions from the transfer portal. Any thoughts about our pitching and hitting this season?
Not sure how anyone can think this group will be better than last year's group. Maybe the pitching gets a little better with Richardson healthy and Susa and Schwartz a year older. Speaking of hitting, where is the production going to come from? Krapf, Valencia, and Tobias haven't been replaced by even remotely similar hitting prowess. For a team that struggled to score runs last year. This might get ugly. I'd love to see anyone put together a hitting lineup (don't even worry about defensive positions) and give your reasons why you place them where you did in the lineup.

I didn't think it would get any worse than last year lol
How long will it take for Ritter to get her butt kicked before she understands what it takes from a recruiting standpoint?

Trust me, this program has all the potential of going 0-50.

The Gophers' onfield performance gets a little worse for 6-7 years running, but the AD apparently does nothing to improve the coaching or the recruiting. It feels like a concerted effort to dump the program.

So many programs at the U of Minnesota are now under performing. Is it a possibility of the quality of athletes in today's world? After all, it is a different world we live in. Or their priorities do not lie with sports? IDK but it is so disheartening to see.

I guess I'd like to know what your definition of underperforming means. Using the Director's Cup standings of the past 5 years post COVID, MN has finished from 28th-39th. Out of 293 Division 1 teams. With them finishing at about or near the middle of the B10 teams with the additions of the PAC12 schools.

MN athletics ranks 13th in the conference in athletics spending. There are still plenty of quality athletes, priorities change, and maybe being a middle of the pack athletic program is where the school is comfortable on their spending towards athletics.

Might be disheartening, but this is the world of NIL and everyone saw this coming. Those with the most money (or largest spending habits) will continue to have the majority of the success.

Minnesota @ Grand Canyon, Thursday, February 26th. The GCU schedule lists the game as part of a dual hosting Arizona State/Grand Canyon tourney, but Minnesota not listed as playing additional games on the weekend at GCU, so guessing they will be in Tempe for the other games in that weekend.

One thing about Ritter she will put together a tough/challenging non con; now if they could ever win some games lol
