I agree that there are fans, who I won’t name, that “would complain if they were hung with a golden rope “. They are debby downers that would complain if we won the national championship by 18 points and they thought it should have been 20! You wonder if their whole life is complaining about everything! It must be sad.

On the lighter side the gopher women won by 12 points without their MVP player (so far this year). Congratulations ladies, nice win.

Because I’m honest in what I say I’m a downer? Lol
I want nothing more for this program to succeed and am man enough to admit when I am wrong. I will be the first to call myself out if that should happen. I hope the gophers prove me wrong. If I didn’t care I wouldn’t send $ to the program.

Cool. Maybe aim for one negative (or “honest”) post per thread. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Most people are coming here as fans where this team makes them happy to discuss. We get you don’t like most about the team. The reminder every other post in all these discussions has felt very unnnecessary for a long time. The world is challenging enough at the moment without that energy.

Hart is more mobile this year. She really needs to establish her position and not moved out. Also she can't bring the ball below her shoulders. 6'5" she needs to own the lane on both ends of the court. Lastly she needs to realize sooner when to kick the ball out to a shooter.

Sophie was so good at this last year where she would get it and kick it out.. but so far this year, she brings the ball down and gets tied up.. she been doubled a few times.. when that happens one of our shooters is open and she needs to kick it out quick

Battle and Braun are really struggling from the field this year, though I loved Braun's stationary 3-point shooting yesterday.

There are 53 BIG players averaging 25 minutes a game. Battle is last in that group with an effective field-goal percentage (EFG) of 30.4%, shooting just 27.5% from 2 (she shot 44.7% last year from 2). Braun is 45th in that group with an EFG of 42.9% shooting just 37.5% from 2.

Something I noticed yesterday. Battle and sometimes others, will take shots that are always available also shots that are a step inside the 3pt line. There's no point to do that. Either get a better shot or shoot from outside the 3pt line.

Braun I attribute to rust, mostly. The pull-up jumpers from 12-15 feet, which she is missing a lot, she wouldn’t shoot if she hadn’t had success in practice and in prior seasons. Her pull-up baseline jumper used to be almost automatic from that distance. So I think we will see some regression to the mean with her.

Battle is getting used to being used as an off-guard more, so that’s part of it, but she, too is missing some pull-ups and layups that we aren’t accustomed to seeing her miss.

If they’re both struggling from 2 midway through the season, I’ll be more alarmed than I am right now. They both just need to continue working hard and it will come. But they need to let the game come to them not force the issue.

I actually hadn’t checked her stats and was going off what I remembered. So, I decided to take a look.

She is shooting .349 overall this year; she is a career .373 shooter. From 3, she is shooting .323; she is a career .349 3-pt shooter. Her career effective field goal % is .458. So far this year, she’s at .429.

Her best single season, she shot .384 overall, .364 from 3, for an effective FG% of .482.

Maybe she will regress this year, but there is ample evidence to indicate her ceiling is much higher than we’ve seen thus far.
