All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

It would be nice to see what Max could do. They won't do it now though.

JJs difficulties throwing downfield, outside the numbers, processing were documented before the draft.

Played for Michigan. Not a positive in this particular case.

Only silver lining I can see is that this distresses Paul Allen a lot more than it does me.

What's most concerning to me is that Kwesi, KOC, etc. went all in on McCarthy - both at the draft and this offseason. To miss on scouting this bad is really scary.

What a disaster.

Skol Vikes!!
I’m more concerned with thinking JJM was good enough to go “all in” with the roster/salary cap situation. QBs are a crap shoot, but you probably need to figure out what you have before thinking you’re a contender.

Of course, Kwesi knows that if JJM busts, he’s probably canned anyway, so to him it doesn’t matter. But it can leave a fabulous wake of shit behind.

It's great to have our all-world wide receiver locked up with a top-tier contract. Priority One: accomplished.

It might be a good idea to figure out the QB situation, though. We might need someone who can actually get the ball to our all-world wide receiver.

They are actually under the cap this year. Sure it's not great next year, but that's not primarily due to moves made this off-season. They didn't make any "all in" trades like the Packers did with Parsons. The season is a bust, but I don't really see what they would have done differently with the roster if someone else was QB. Their Oline and Dline were the weak spots. They tried to address it. It hasn't really worked.

Do great wide receivers make average QBs look great? Or...

Do great QBs make their receivers look great?

Which is it, again? I always forget.

Having to punt, kick a FG, or turnover on downs an extra 2.5 per games seems rather significant to me.
But it was 16, so 1.6 (though 10 games) and of course that goes right back to the reason why this stat is very likely misleading (since it is so incomplete ... probably purposefully so): who's to say that they don't lead the lead in fewest number of 3rd/4th downs in the league. IE. they were replacing 3rd/4th and longer with some of those 3rd/4th and short.

It's such a worthless, cherry picked stat.

The Vet QB they did sign got the stuffing pounded out of him and wound up in the IR for the rest of the year. To think any other QB especially those in their 40s wouldn't have likely had the same fate is foolhardy.

Plus the QB does not solve the issues on Defense.
Wrong.

Danny, Darnold, Rodgers all get it done.

You're wrong.

Don’t break your back by stepping on a crack are too rigorously patting yourself on it😉

I get that it's a Gopher site, fine.

But the Max stuff just has to stop. Just stop.

- If he was from South Carolina (or, whoa!, New Hampshire!), then nobody is saying it
- Just like no one is saying pLaY jOhN wOlFoRd! We'Ve GoT tO kNoW wHaT wE'vE gOt In HiM!!

He was undrafted. He only got brought into the Vikings because he was at Minnesota. Fleck pushed McCown into it.

Glad he had a great camp and pre-season against other team's 4th stringers, and made the team as our 3rd. He's still the 3rd QB if Wentz isn't out.

If an undrafted player never plays for you ... who cares!! You discard him and move on with life.

2026 QB: Kirk Cousins after he beats out JJ in training camp.

Wait...Fleck is making Viking roster decisions now?

Holy cow!

Brosmer’s actually on the Viking roster, whilst your man crush Rodgers isn’t🤷‍♂️.

Also, last time I checked you’re not a board moderator🤦‍♂️. Just another middle aged amuck, like the rest of us, on a free anonymous chat board.

The frustrating thing is that someone (or some people) looked at McCarthy and determined he was going to beat the odds and become that rare 22-yr old QB who was ready to lead an NFL playoff team. I mean that is one big oopsie. This doesn't give fans a lot of confidence in the organization going forward, especially if they keep pushing him out there. There's no shame in letting him take a game or season off to regroup.

Aaron Rodgers is old and broken and the Steelers will miss the play-offs. What a sad ending to his career. Thank God we didn't have to watch it and pretend to root for him.

When a team is losing a slew of 1 score games (today obviously not withstanding) it seems one would have to be willfully blind to not realize there is some cause and effect.
