I’m not from here but a coworker told me that kfan has been snarky since day one. Always trying to annoy listeners. It all makes sense now.
Like you, not from Minnesota, but the general approach of sports coverage in Minnesota has always been ridiculous.
From Sid's rampant Homerism to the overwhelming majority of "writers" in teh newspapers attacking every coach and team from every possible angle. One of my favorite witnessed exchanges was Glen Mason at the fair, talking to fans, signing autographs, and answering questions. Talking about how much improved the team was from when he took over, a question from a strib writer - How Many Minnesotans are on the Team?
When "fans" would call in to coaches show and rant about scheduling crappy teams like Indiana, you can forgive that level of stupidity, but for a writer in a "major" newspaper (back when newspapers were still a thing) asks questions like that? What do you do? Fleck does handle the local press better than any coach in Minnesota sports, but they still ask him a lot of questisons that they shoudl be embarrassed about.
As for KFAN, like most of sports radio, I always expected it to be more about, ya know, sports. So listening was never a priority.
