6-3 including 4-2 in B1G! I got a kick out of Ryan Burns' "Go find joy" rant!

Great stuff. To the point of some of the other fanbases not quite where we are as a middle-of-the-pack developmental program in the B1G+ would trade with us in a heartbeat, here's the current standings for the middle and below...

Not looking to trade places with PSU for example. .

Heck Oregon only has 4 B1G+ wins at this point. Could we be seeing better football? Yes, of course. But just as it could be better, it also could be worse. Just sayin'...

It was almost like to an extent he was worried about his standing with PJ and his staff so he went off completely the deep end the other direction praising them compared to what I think generally are fair analysis and criticisms when needed.

MN and Michigan have 3 common opponents

Both are 3-0 in those games over MSU, Nebraska and Purdue.

MN is + 28 in those games.
MI is + 19 in those games.

Just saying.

I watch most Michigan games (when they don’t overlap with gopher games) with my friend who is from Ann Arbor.

Michigan isn’t better than the gophers. I do wonder how that matchup would go. Always assume they’ll control the trenches but hard to tell.

Could not agree with Burns more in this regard. He is speaking about a relatively small subset of social media folks but they are a very vocal and annoying group that if they are anything like their online persona would be some of the worst people in the world to be around in real life.

Enjoy the ride.....any Gopher fan who isn't thrilled with the win needs to find a different hobby. It wasn't pretty but the team found a way to win. Most posters are good, they enjoy the wins but also have critiques about the team and program and want to discuss the areas that clearly need to improve...that is all totally valid.

But any "Gopher fan" in here saying we should be embarrassed by or ashamed of the win needs to find something better to do with their time. 6-3, 4-2, going bowling again and with a chance to finish with 8 or 9 wins on the season....far from perfect but like Burn's says, there are a lot of teams/fanbases in the conference/country that would gladly trade places with us right now.

We have a fortunate schedule this year as we barely beat three of the bottom dwellers. A bad break here or there and we are 1-5 instead of 4-2. But, we won those games so take it to a bowl game somewhere.

We had Ohio State and Iowa on the road, had Nebraska when they were full strength, missed Michigan and Penn State on down years, and still have a trip to Oregon.

Had to scroll for ten minutes to get down to Nebraska. Sure the fan base still thinks they are ready to breakout though.

My father is a die hard Badgers fan. This weekend he admitted to me how jealous he was of our QB. "Every team in the B1G has a promising to great QB except the damn Badgers!"

Nebraska is now without their starting QB for the rest of the season.

It could be so much worse. Many of us have lived through so much worse.

The ball rarely bounces our way and the calls rarely go in our favor, but they did on Saturday.

I'm enjoying the ride and y'all are welcome to join me.

I know PSU was having a rough go, but I didn't realize they were 0-for the conference schedule. Love to see it!

41st strength of schedule according to SI. Oregon, Ohio State, Iowa [might make playoff this year], and Nebraska [full strength and top 25 ranked] is not an easy schedule.

Although many of the games have been tough to watch, all that matters in the end are wins and losses.

6-3 and 4-2 in B10 is totally acceptable in my opinion. Lets find a way to win a couple more!
Yup! Just get the W. Some yrs you win w style and some yrs, you dont. Just have to get them!

It is pointless to play the what if game.....every team can do it.

Penn State is 0-5 in the Big Ten.....4 of their loses are by a combined 13 points. Including a 1 point loss to Iowa. Iowa is a handful of points from being undefeated but also barely beat PSU......

Win by 20 or win by 1.....counts the same in the standings.

The home road mix is favorable
As the toss up games are mostly at home

But it’s a tough schedule. The gophers miss UCLA and Penn state and Maryland

It’s kind of the typical big ten schedule. Not easier than usual or tougher.

You’re only playing half of the big ten each season.
They play 3 in the top 6
They play 3 in the bottom 5
They play 3 in the middle 6 but UCLA is clearly the worst of the middle 6 to me and they miss UCLA

Winning is the most important thing, but it’s not all that matters. Having a game, be fun to watch should matter too.

I had fun watching the Michigan State game....it was frustrating as he!! at times but we won so all in all a good day.

I'm sure the coaches would love to win every game by 50 and give the fans a show but in the end their job is to win the game by any means necessary....style points don't matter.

Peace and love (h/t Burnsie) but it’s been a wierd season. The Nebraska game 9 sack defensive domination followed up by the Iowa exposure and loss was humbling. We don’t know what we’re going to get week to week. The conventional wisdom seems to be the offensive line lacks physicality, the receiver corps isn’t good, and the secondary is subpar and vulnerable. Special teams haven’t been great. The coaches are said to be making the best of the situation - but they certainly have some say on recruiting and development so fair to toss some criticism their way.

The big ten as a whole seems to have a lack of identity, seems mediocre or maybe more accurately inconsistent week to week outside of Ohio State, Indiana, or our friends in Iowa City. Maybe Oregon.

As I’ve said a few times PJ Fleck teams do seem to get better as the season goes on. Interested to see how they finish out the year. Agree we need to temper expectations or probably find a new hobby to preserve mental health 🙃. Sports aren’t worth getting too worked up about. It’s nice to see individual performances and development, emergence.

Burns and the rest of the podcast talked about how bad our corners are this year. The whole defense is compromised by this. So maybe it's not the DL making the rest of the defense look bad which was my initial suspicion, maybe it's trying to protect our corners? They surprised me by saying how well our LBs have been playing, not flashy, but solid. I think our LBs are physically limited, but they are older so play smart football.
