We stink.

I realized that the Wild and Gopher hockey also lost yesterday. Tough weekend.

Funny how y'all only show up after loses. Swear some people only make accounts just to bitch and moan.

The sky is not falling. Pay your coordinators a competitive salary.
If you have to advise your head coach to pay your coordinators a competitive salary he shouldn't be the head coach.

You have 2 million dollars.

You think coach 1 and coach 2 are equal.
Coach 1 takes 1 million coach B takes 700k
Which do you hire? And for how much

If you witnessed this in person you know yesterday could have been worse...

Still no excuse for yesterday but reality sucks sometimes...

My wife absolutely hates anything about Iowa because of that debacle, made much worse by some b*tchy female Hawkeye fans sitting in front of us. She'll never forgive whatever Gopher season ticket holder sold tickets to them.

We don't stink. We are just average.

Our offense has no identity in the coaching is leaving a lot to be desired.

Our defense is the biggest problem. We have a terrible gap control against the run and on third down and anything longer than 5 yd. We only Rush three which is the absolute death wish on defense.

PJ has the wrong coordinators and if he sticks with them, it will be the death of him in a couple years as well.

Recruiting's been great. We've had some good teams but we've lost those offensive and defensive coordinators.
Offense is, and has been, our biggest problem for 5 of the last 6 seasons.

Gophers don't stink, they stunk VS Iowa and are fairly mediocre as far as power conference schools go.

See you guys next year.
lWhat? Rather have ten fans than alll of you who post this crap and troll like usaf. Remember when Kirk taught that safety to cheat because he knew offense couldn’t move 20 yards. Remember when his kid was a racist towards players? Do you think apple falls away from tree?

I have no idea what this means

It is times like Saturday that I hate being that "Gopher guy" within all my circles of friends. Work Friends, neighborhood friends, lifelong friends, etc. etc. I was getting texts from pretty much everyone I know on Saturday during the game and nearly all of them were asking things like "what is wrong with the Gophers today?" or "Have the Gophers ever been beaten this badly" - as if I have some sort of sway over the University of Minnesota football program. I guess the good news is a lot of Minnesotans like to rip on the gophers but a lot of Minnesotans do pay attention and watch them despite a 60+ year drought in national championships.

For me, I started the year out hopeful but the loss to Cal and the tight wins at home over Rutgers and Purdon't left me with the opinion that this was the worst Gopher football team since 2017. But then the glorious throttling of 5-1 Nebraska took place and I immediately shifted gears to "this is looking like a lot of Fleck teams that stumble around to start the season but then find their rhythm and look like a different team in the second half of the season."

I spent one week soaking up all the whiny Nebraska podcasts and on line posts, as well as the national media asking "did you see what Minnesota did to Nebraska?" Nearly the same spread for the game at Iowa and I was ready for the same result.

But here we are, now looking at (likely at best) a 7-5 season from a squad that Fleck has said is the most connected team he has had, could be in the playoff, and that he LOVES to coach. There are no guarantees of 7-5. That is just what will happen if teams like Michigan State and Northwestern cooperate. They might not. They are both better than Purdue and that was a come from behind slog at home.

There was a time when 7-5 was okay. But given Fleck's extended time at MN and the fact teams like Indiana, Illinois, etc. have lapped the Gophers, I am back to thinking this is Fleck's worst MN product since he got here and that isn't good when Indiana is planning for championships.

When exactly did Illinois lap us? During Fleck's time here we have been as good or better then them in most seasons.

As for Indiana - Outside of these past 2 seasons and the covid year that program has been mostly garbage for decades. It is frustrating that a program like that seems to have caught lightning in a bottle with their most recent coaching change but they are 1000% an exception more than a rule.

An 8-4 regular season is still very much on the table. I get the frustration coming off a bad loss like the one against Iowa but season isn't over even though some fans are acting like it is.

Illinois has been ranked for most of the past two seasons and had a "real" bowl game last year and won it with lots of eyeballs watching it. Indiana "outside of these past two seasons" - I'm more impressed WITH these past two seasons - they've been pretty good. They are currently ranked #2 and look to be headed toward their second playoff in a row. You went into a thread called "we stink" and my comments are the ones that triggered your Gopher defensiveness? I'm one of the most Gopher-friendly posters here.

Illinois and Indiana were definitely both better then us last year. Indiana is again, not so sure about Illinois, they probably are but not by much.

I just think when talking about one program lapping another to me that involves a wider window of time then just the current year or the year before.

For example....yes getting to a bowl is not a high bar....but we have been to 9 bowl games in the last 10 full seasons. During that same span Illinois has been to 4 and Indiana has been to 5. So they might have higher highs then we have but they have also had significantly lower lows with multiple years not even getting to the low bar of bowl eligibility.

I think of it a bit differently. The Gophers could go to 30 middling bowls in a row but if Rutgers would go to 3 playoffs and an Orange bowl, I'd say they passed the Gophers at that point.
