The incident in question happened at the 12:55 mark of the fourth quarter after Arkansas completed a pass for a first down at the Aggies' 10-yard line. After the ball was spotted for the next play, defensive back Tyreek Chappell went to the ground after coaches on the A&M sideline signaled "signaling demonstratively to the player, pointing to the ground."

Yeah it's pretty obvious when you got a guy signaling for someone to go down after the ball got spotted.

How did we get here?
Some other schools were heavily abusing the whole injury timeout thing and would have defensive players go down on command to get their defense a rest. Most visibly in the SEC. SEC coaches got pretty public about it with complaints.

B1G really didn't have many bad incidents or coaches complaining about it (well Kirk was a baby about one event, in a situation where a player was actually out the next week... but that was years ago).

Chip Kelly offense?

We have a play clock to limit the max amount of time before the ball must be snapped. I wouldn't mind an analogous one to say the defense can try and grasp how the offense is lined up before they get to snap it.

$50k is hardly a fine these days (especially in the SEC) - Kirby Smart can probably find that in his sofa cushions
I don't doubt it as a % of the monies they deal with.

But I also see similar sentiments and outside things like fans storming the field (can't control that) nobody has yet chosen to pickup the fine for things like this every week either ... we'll see if someone does that with the injury thing.

Rhule did it the right way by calling a timeout when the Gophers were on their 14 play 98 yard drive.
